About this video: This video is our step-by-step guide on how to download and install data packs in Minecraft 1.16.2. What are data packs for 1.16.2? Well, they are mods for Minecraft 1.16.2. that do not require any mod launchers or weird changes to the game. They are super easy to install in Minecraft single player, and they only work on the worlds you install them in meaning you can still play on servers or in other single player worlds without any problems or issues. Thus, without any more delay, here is how to add data packs to Minecraft 1.16.2!
The first step of getting a 1.16.2 data pack is actually downloading it. You can find a link to some of the best 1.16.2 data packs in the description above. Once you are there, click the green ‘download’ button under the data packs that you want to install. There are tons of different data packs here, but they are all installed in the exact same way. In this video, we install some Vanilla Tweaks data pack, the vein miner data pack, and some Voodoo Packs data packs. No matter what kind of data pack you are installing though, it will work in 1.16.2 as long as it is made for that version.
After you have your data packs downloaded, it is time to learn how to install data packs in Minecraft 1.16.2. This is also pretty easy. Just open up Minecraft 1.16.2, click ‘on single player’, and then, click one time on the single player world you want to add your data pack to. Then, click the ‘Edit’ button in the bottom left of Minecraft. Next, click the ‘Open World Folder’ button. This will open your world folder where you will see a ‘datapacks’ folder. To install your data packs, just drag-and-drop them into this datapacks folder. Come back to Minecraft, and click ‘Save’. Then, open up the world you added the data packs to.
Some data packs will work right away after you install them. However, some data packs will not, and they will need to be activated. To activate your data packs in Minecraft 1.16.2, you will need to run the /reload command in game. If you can’t run this command, you will need to open up your world to LAN via the options menu, but make sure you enable cheats. You will then be able to run the /reload command to active your datapacks.
At this point though, your data packs should be working. If you do have issues, you can reach out to the data pack developer as every data pack is different, and some unfortunately say they are 1.16.2 compatible when they are not. There isn’t anything we can do about this except let the developer know as soon as possible.
