About this video: In this video, we show you exactly how to make a PaperMC server in Minecraft 1.16.2. From how to download Paper Minecraft 1.16.2 to how you can setup Paper on a Minecraft server to even how to port forward in order to ensure your friends can join your PaperMC server, no matter what this video will help you out.
What is PaperMC? Well, it is a Minecraft server software that is optimized to be lag free and allow you to run as many plugin and as many players as possible without having to worry about lag. Now, a Paper server doesn’t mean you don’t have to worry about your server’s hardware at all, but it gives your hardware the best chance to be as lag free as possible. Thus, without any more delay, here is how to create a Paper Minecraft server in 1.16.2.
The first step of getting a Paper Minecraft server is downloading the Paper server file. You can find the Paper download link in the description above. This will take you to the official download page for Paper Minecraft 1.16.2. Here, you can see all of the PaperMC 1.16.2 versions. Always download the most recent version of Paper. You will need to keep/save the file depending on your browser.
After you have the Paper file downloaded, create a folder on your desktop, and add the file you downloaded to it. Then, rename the file to ‘paper.jar’. Next, right-click on the ‘New’ click ‘Text Document’. Open that text document, and copy one of the codes from the description above and paste in this document. Click on ‘File’, ‘Save As’, and name the file ‘run.bat’. Make sure the ‘Save Type As’ is changed to ‘All Files’. Save the text document. Double click on the new ‘run.bat’ file, and your server will go start and then fail.
You will now have an EULA.txt file. Open that file, and change ‘EULA=false’ to ‘EULA=true’. Save the file, and now, double click the run.bat file again. Your Paper Minecraft Server will now open up in Minecraft 1.16.2.
At this point, you can join your server off of your local IPv4 address. If you want your friends to join your Paper Minecraft server though, you will need to forward port 25565 for the TCP and UDP protocol. We cover this in-depth in the video and have additional guides on port forwarding in the description above to help you.
Once you have port forward, your friends will be able to join your Paper Minecraft server with version 1.16.2 off your public IP address which you can find with the link in the description above.
