About this video: This video will show you how to download Minecraft 1.17 using the Minecraft launcher. Minecraft 1.17 is part one of the long awaited Caves and Cliffs Minecraft update. This adds in new blocks, mobs, biome changes, and more! Truthfully, this is one of the most anticipated updates in Minecraft history. Thus, without anymore delay, here is how to download and install Minecraft 1.17 using the Minecraft Launcher!
The first step of getting Minecraft 1.17 is actually making sure that you have the default Minecraft launcher downloaded and installed. You can find a link to the Minecraft launcher in the description above. You download and install this like any other program. You may also want to download and install Java. We have a complete Java tutorial for Minecraft linked in the description above.
Once you have the Minecraft launcher downloaded and setup, it is actually very, very easy to get Minecraft 1.17 installed. Just click on the little arrow next to the play button and select ‘Latest Release’. Then, click play. This will get you playing the most recent version of Minecraft which at this point in Minecraft 1.17.
If Minecraft 1.17 isn’t the most recent version though, the process is a bit different. You will still need to get into the default Minecraft launcher. From there, click on ‘Installations’ at the top of the screen. Then, click on the ‘New Installation’ button. A menu will open up. You can name this whatever you want. The important part is clicking the version drop-down box and selecting Minecraft 1.17. Then, click ‘create’ in the bottom right.
You will then see a ‘Minecraft 1.17’ problem on the installations page. Hover over that and click the green Play button that appears. Minecraft 1.17 will now open up even if it it isn’t the latest version.
