How to Format USB File System to EXFAT to use on PS5 Pro Console (Settings Tutorial)
To format a USB drive to the exFAT file system for use with your PlayStation 5 Pro console, follow these steps depending on your operating system:
For Windows:
Connect Your USB Drive:
Plug the USB drive into an available USB port on your Windows PC.
Open File Explorer:
Click on the File Explorer icon in your taskbar or press Win + E to open it.
Locate Your USB Drive:
Find your USB drive under "This PC" or "My Computer." It should appear as a removable disk.
Right-Click on the Drive:
Right-click on your USB drive’s icon.
Select Format:
From the context menu, click on Format...
Choose File System:
In the Format window:
Under "File system," select exFAT from the dropdown menu.
You can also set the "Allocation unit size" to "Default" unless you have a specific reason to change it.
Optionally, give your drive a name in the "Volume label" field.
Make sure "Quick Format" is checked for faster formatting, unless you want a full format to check for bad sectors.
Start Formatting:
Click Start. A warning will inform you that formatting will erase all data on the drive. Confirm if you're sure.
Wait for Completion:
The formatting process will begin, and once it's done, you'll get a message saying the format was completed successfully.
