Kid Chameleon High Scores - The Crypt (48,270 Points) [WR]
Before entering this level, make sure you will be starting it with a Skycutter helmet and *exactly* 48 diamonds. Thankfully, the hardest part of the level is at least at the very beginning, the method for which was first suggested by Skarloey100. When the level starts, move to the left and flip up to the prize block ceiling as soon as the iron block column is cleared. What you want to do is before hitting the ceiling, you want to actually flip back right-side up as Skycutter in order to trigger the prize block. The final goal is to break through this row of prize blocks, as that is the shortest route to the first clock, even though it's ungodly difficult. Since Skycutter has 2x2 dimensions, you will need to do the series of flips mentioned above a total of four times.
While you are carrying out those flips, you also need to pay attention to your diamond count. Since you are breaking through two prize blocks that contain diamonds, these will be added to your counter. Our goal is to use invulnerability three times in the level, and if we surpass 50 diamonds on the counter, we lose all opportunities for this, so right before the second diamond is collected, invulnerability should be used, leaving you with 30 diamonds.
If you're like *REALLY* fast at this first sequence, you can actually get an early cycle past the four platforms beyond the prize blocks. If you're too slow by only a little bit, the platforms will crush you and lead to death. In a single-segment run, the early cycle is never gone for that reason, the later cycle only losing like a second or two. Anyway, the pattern for the early cycle is to go the right between the first two platforms, and then for the second set, go around the right side of the right platform.
You should now flip back right-side up, and get the clock in the upper-left prize block in the chamber. If you're as fast as possible, you can get this clock by 5:52. After that is done, go to the right into the side chamber that you passed previously and continue a little ways until you are stopped by two iron blocks. These are disguised rising platforms, so to bypass the set of three of them up ahead, just do a short jump over the first and you should get past all three without a crush death.
When gliding off the next ledge, do a flip before hitting the next ledge. About halfway to the ceiling, flip right-side up, and use a second round of invulnerability at about the apex of this flip. Continue to the right, such that you land in a U-shaped ice block box. In the center there will be three prize blocks. The first contains a Micromax helmet, the second is a clock, and the third is 10 diamonds. *DO NOT* trigger the Micromax box, but trigger the second and third ones. Collecting 10 diamonds here will give you 20 diamonds, enough for a third round of invulnerability. Try collecting the clock by a critical time of 8:45, and you're on pretty much ideal pace.
The invulnerability used previously should protect you from any UFOs that try to engage you around this time. Go towards the telepad, and then rise up and go towards the left. If you hit the iron blocks on the ceiling, you will discover a secret room. Continue to the right until you're able to exit it. Flip back to normal position almost immediately after exiting, so you can land in the chamber directly above. The first prize block you encounter will be a Micromax helmet (which you need). Just before collecting it, use your last round of invulnerability.
The rest relies on good Micromax movement, following the standard path as him to the end, but it helps if you can jump as much as possible to maximize speed. There's really only two other notable time savers until the end:
1) Jump on the robot and connect with the rock block wall, carrying out two long jumps to the left as Micromax to jump seamlessly through the second rock block column.
2) Between the third and fourth rock block columns, fall to the bottom with the drill blocks and progress to the left via that path instead of threading through the middle. It's faster and safer this way, as invulnerability should still be active at this point.
If your speed is optimal, you should reach the flag at the best known time of 8:27.
