Late-Game Minecraft 217 :: Converting Stone to Moss
A busy day for us today! We set up a small farm on the coast, and start to dig a new tunnel that connects the two amethyst geodes! Making a layer of stone in the middle of the empty plot of grass, we apply bone meal to the moss blocks we had bought yesterday to grow more moss and some azalea plants!
We empty our items from our Shulker boxes into our storage chests, including what we had bought from the wandering trader! The sun is setting so we quickly put down our bed and sleep before the monsters spawn! Then, we feed the tropical fish to the axolotls and they give birth a new baby axolotl, how cute!
To access our diamond hoe, we pick up our Ender chest from the caves! We till the land near the coast so we can plant our beetroot seeds. We also plant the sugar canes next to the axolotl pond! A small cave opening sparks our curiosity, and we enter to find a section of the caves that we forgot to light up!
Since we were still organising our items, we do not have much torches with us! We slay a group of three skeletons before trying to find our way out. Then, we plant a carrot and a potato by the coast! We mine a bit more copper to smelt into bars, as well as some coal to mend our diamond hoe.
After we have organised all our items, we have space in our inventory again! We craft some bone meal to use with the moss block and head into the mines. We continue to dig a tunnel towards the west, where the other amethyst geode is located! We swim back up to our furnace, place down a copper block and sleep.
Then, we continue working on the tunnel that connects the two amethyst geodes! We are digging near the ocean floor, so we are cautious of any gravel or dirt that may be holding back the water. Once the ceiling of the tunnel is in place, we go outside to restore the gravel on the ocean floor!
We store some items in our chests before heading back underground. We decide to make the rest of the tunnel deeper since we do not want to deal with the water! However, we get too close to the underground caves and the tunnel fills with water again!
Carving out a tunnel for easy access to the geodes is proving to be more difficult than we had imagined! We move the tunnel higher so that it passes over the ceiling of the caves. We also cannot find a good location underground to place our moss block, so instead we make a giant stone floor on the surface!
Once we are done, we apply some bone meal and watch our stone turn into verdant moss! We also collect our first azaleas and flowering azaleas! These vegetal blocks look incredible for landscaping. We use up our stone to generate more, and we are completely fine with that since we have so much of it!
We get some wheat seeds from the tall grass that generates as well! We sow these seeds at the small farm that we had set up on the coast. Then, we venture into the caves from the small cave opening to light up the dark areas that we had seen earlier! Fortunately, we don't encounter any mobs while doing so!
At the end of the cave, we hear a bat screeching! We dig away the gravel and find more half-explored caves. A creeper appears beside us and we turn to run away! We find the bat that was making all the noise and swipe at it with our sword.
Placing torches in the caves, we eventually find ourselves beneath the ruined portal! We gather some copper ore before going back to the lava lake. At the amethyst geode, we harvest some fully-grown amethyst crystals! We follow the trail of spruce planks to the other geode.
After storing away our amethyst, we sleep for the night. We continue digging out the tunnel but we hit a different underground cave, oops! We notice our stairs to the surface are too close to the caves as well, so we add a layer of stone under the stairs.
The tunnel slants diagonally in a bid to avoid all the caves! Maybe we should just abandon the tunnel idea and resort to swimming between the two geodes. We end the episode at our storage area, where we craft a few stone stairs! Sadly, our copper block has not oxidised in the least!
