Late-Game Minecraft 268 :: Stingy Piglins
3We are only looking for Nether quartz to craft some comparators, but the Piglins seem to give us every item that is not quartz! We even get a Soul Speed III book! We spend most of the episode in the Nether looking for more gold to trade with the Piglins, and ultimately resort to mining some quartz ourselves!
Continuing to slay zombie Pigmen, we get rid of a few who are wandering around the Nether highways before we head down to the plateau to find more! We fly to a nearby crimson forest where we are attacked by some Piglins and Hoglins! Taking quite a lot of damage, we quickly fly away to escape!
Near our pen of Striders, we find a bunch of zombie Pigmen! After dealing with them, we fly across a lava lake and a warped forest to look for more zombies. Seeing some deposits of magma blocks near the edge of the lava, we sprint over to mine them with our pickaxe!
Magma blocks are another resource that we need for our mob farm! We fly up to another flat area above a lava lake where we find many groups of zombie Pigmen. Perfect for gathering large amounts of gold! We slay all of them with our Netherite sword and store the drops in our Shulker box.
Before we head back, we see another deposit of magma blocks! Landing beside the deposit, we realise that we are standing on a block of gravel that is floating above lava, so we tread very carefully! We slay a few more zombie Pigmen as we try to orientate ourselves!
Returning to the Netherrack plateau beneath the Nether hub, we find that many more zombie Pigmen have spawned! Our Netherite sword that is enchanted with Smite V allows us to slay all the Pigmen with one hit, which prevents them from ganging up on us!
Flying back up to the Nether hub, we are about to craft some gold ingots when a ghast shoots a fireball at us! We fly towards the source of the fireball to deal with the screaming menace. Then, after crafting all the gold nuggets into ingots, we offer them to the Piglins trapped in the spruce boat!
The Piglins give us a Soul Speed III book for one of the ingots, which is the rarest item that you can get from Piglin bartering! We are still looking for Nether quartz though! Hearing the sounds of a ghast beneath the Nether hub, we glide down to dispatch it!
On a nearby Netherite platform, we slay a few Piglins before going back to bartering with the Piglins in the boat! After trading more than 20 ingots, we finally get six pieces of Nether quartz! It is barely enough for our needs though!
Disappointed with our luck with Piglin barters, we wield our pickaxe and glide down to the Netherite plateau beneath to mine some quartz. Seeing more zombie Pigmen, we also assault them for gold! There are many veins of quartz ore here that we have not yet touched.
The reason why we initially hesitated to mine the ore was because we did not want to destroy the landscape! However, we figured that the ghasts would ruin it anyway, so we proceed with mining. Uncovering a block of lava, we quickly patch it with some Netherrack!
We slay more Pigmen to mend our pickaxe before flying up to the Nether hub! Trading two more ingots with the Piglins, we get 12 pieces of quartz! Nice! Our chest is filling up with golden swords so we decide to smelt them in a furnace with the help of a newly-crafted hopper.
While waiting for the swords to smelt, we deal with more zombie Pigmen in the area! Afterwards, we craft another 6 ingots and trade them with the Piglins. In return, we get more junk like a water bottle and some nether bricks!
Oh well, we have gathered enough Nether quartz anyway! We fly towards the portal to the stronghold, getting rid of some zombie Pigmen along the way. After exiting the stronghold, we take off in the direction of our deepslate base!
When we arrive, we bring all our Nether items over to the chests beside the square pit! Then, we glide down to the bottom of the pit with some redstone items. At the central collection point, we count the number of smooth stone tiles from the wall and realise that the lower tunnels are too far away!
To move them closer to the centre of the mob spawning area, we first make the tunnel wider by mining out a layer of stone, before placing the stone on the opposite wall! We also move the smooth stone and stone bricks by one block to match.
Then, we place down the pistons in the tunnel! These pistons will be attached to a redstone clock, and the constant motion will help to sort the mobs. We mine out a room behind for the clock and see that it is raining!
At the storage chests above, we take out our clock so we can tell the time! Not long after, we notice the orange glow of a sunset and we sleep. The next morning, we end the episode in the room for the redstone clock!
