Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.
In this episode we continue working the mention notifications that we were working on in the previous episode. We start out by wrapping up the CSS for the popup modal when selecting a user to mention, as well as the logic when clicking on one of the users inside of the modal. Then we go back into the backend to setup the ability to send a notification when a post is created with a mention inside of it. Then we wrap up with a small bug fix with the discovery service. We change the queries in the repository to query by the like clause rather than the contains keyword, then fix a bug where users were getting overriden in the treeset that should be returned by the discovery search.
