With Vithal’s planeswalking done forever, we’ve little else to do but look into the only lead we have left. The luminous gem we’ve been given will allow Terri and the group to navigate through the exceptionally dark cave close by and meet someone who might be able to help us get back to the surface. We’ve been warned to be courteous when we meet them and that’s exactly what we’re going to do; we do ourselves no favours alienating our only chance of escaping the underdark.

Predictably, their assistance comes with strings attached, namely helping them with something first. Unlike other instances of this earlier in the game, however, the task we’re about to agree to is long, difficult and directly tied to what Irenicus and Bodhi are up to. It’s going to involve things that the party hasn’t shown much proficiency in thus far, namely subtly, but our only other option is one that Terri wouldn’t ever think to entertain.

Some of you may think that I’m exaggerating when I say that this is going to be one of the most difficult undertakings in the game so far. Those that know the setting moderately well will know just how much trouble the party are wilfully striding into.
