Let’s Play HC Minecraft Take Three #01: Once More into Adventure

Can you believe that it’s been nearly four years since I last did a hardcore run of Minecraft? So much has changed and yet, so much hasn’t all at once. For all its additions and alterations it’s still a game I can dive into whenever and have a whale of a time, for the objective of the game remains the same as it was since I began playing in alpha: do whatever you want.
The rules for this run remain the same as the others. I’ll be generating a world on hardcore difficulty and seeing what I can achieve with the one life I have. Once the Avatar dies, the playthrough with be over. Nothing lasts forever after all.
With that said, it’s time to create the world that the Avatar will call home for the foreseeable future and get the bare essential set up before nightfall. We need food, light and shelter immediately to survive the monsters that come out when the sun sets and not starve. Soon we’ll need a steady supply of food via crops and a bed to skip the night, but all that will come in time. For now, the mad dash to set up the basic needs as laid out by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a go.
