Edna has in her possession a mould of the master key filled with molten gold that’s very slowly cooling. All we need do is find a way to accelerate that process for us to finally have it. Presuming it’s a serviceable copy – the game could be very mean and give us a rough replica that needs a little more work done to it, but I highly doubt it will – we’ll be able to unlock all the locks we’ve found in the game up to this point, of which there are three.

While opening the two gates separating the recreation area and the inmates rooms from the main asylum will save us time when we inevitably need to return to those areas, it’s opening the back door which will lead to progress. No-one is watching the back door which means we’ll finally be able to get out of the building on ground level and one step closer to freedom. I’d like to say that there aren’t many more steps to go on that journey, but I still remember the view we got of the asylum grounds when we were on the roof. We’ve still a ways to go yet, but this is still a huge accomplishment.
