74The silver dragon’s powerful magic may make the party look and sound like drow, but that alone won’t be enough to survice in the drow city of Ust Natha. If we’re going to stand a chance of discovering where the eggs, we’ll need to blend into drow society. That’s far easier said than done even for Terri’s party but we the only alternative we have is slaying the silver dragon guarding the way up to the surface. Beside that being a monstrous thing to do, the passage up would then be accessible by anyone who feels like launching a raid on the surface, something we certainly don’t want.
Most drow venerate Lloth and those that don’t keep their faith secret if they want to last long. The drow launch raids in the Underdark and the surface world for resources and slaves, the latter they treat poorly. It is a matriarchal society where men are considered less than nothing and all are either tools to be utilised for your own gain or rivals to be dispatched so you can gain prestige and power, all in the name of the spider queen. Scheming and treachery are a given but those who are powerful, strong of will and make the right allies – and dispose of them at the right time – can not only survive but thrive.
Terri has no desire to thrive in Ust Natha, however. She’s there to retrieve those eggs and that’s what we’re going to do.
