82It’s clear as day that Terri and the party were just witness to a drumhead trial where no justice has actually been done. Not even the man leading the proceedings believed the accused did there’s evidence that implicates him and his main witness vanished. That there’s something fishy going on here is obvious and it wouldn’t take much digging at all to get to the bottom of it but, unfortunately for the accused, the city happens to be under siege and so everyone is too focused on that rather than figuring out who actually did it.
That’s where we come in.
If you’re expecting us to perform some complicated detective work, you’re in for a disappointment. Much like tracking down the stolen spellbook, the truth is readily attained just by talking to a couple of people, leaving us to decide who we’re going to side with. While we are an evil party, siding with the true culprit either gets us into a lot of trouble with the guard or involves killing someone wholly innocent, neither of which we’re especially keen on. The other alternative is seeing justice done which will also see is in some rather nasty combat situations, something that Korgan and Dorn have likely been looking forward to since their arrival here.
