While the game gives you definite points to acquire all the weapons in the game, there are opportunities to grab some of them earlier if you’re observant and willing to explore. We got the chaingun that way and we could have grabbed the next weapon in our arsenal too and my, what a weapon it is. Powered by the energy cells and possessing a lot of punch, the plasma gun may not fire as fast as the one in previous games but with the slower pace of this game, it doesn’t have to.

With that said, there are some enemies that its less well suited for, namely those capable of dodging quickly. The projectiles have travel time that needs to be factored into your shots and while ammunition is going to become quite commonplace in a little bit, the reload time means you want to make every pew pew count.
