It's time for the final stage of the game! We're still at the Final Weapon, but we're in a different part of it now. This is essentially the third fortress stage, and it more or less just contains the boss rush and the final boss. (And yet this video still reached nearly 30 minutes...well, long boss fights are long.) Split Mushroom and Jet Stingray are an absolute joke with their weaknesses, Web Spider and Slash Beast still manage to put up a decent fight, and Cyber Peacock, Storm Owl, Magma Dragoon, and Frost Walrus are somewhere in between. The helmet enhancement is useful here. After defeating all eight of them, we enter the teleporter to the hallway leading to Sigma's room. Sigma has three forms in this game, but actually, only the last one is all that challenging....and he starts out dressed as the Grim Reaper for whatever reason. His first form, "The Reaper", appears and disappears, and when he appears, simply hit him with a Rising Fire (uncharged). Do this a second time, and then when he appears a third time, he does a slash across the screen with his scythe that can be easily dodged by dash-jumping over him from the opposite well. Repeat this sequence 6 times, and he'll drop his Reaper garb in favor of a more typical Sigma form. He still has the scythe in the second part of the battle, and he'll first throw it in a sort of circular pattern and then directly at the player, where it will get stuck in whatever surface it hits and send electric bolts along it. Lure it to the wall, since having it on the floor will make him perform a different attack that is MUCH harder to dodge; on the wall, he shoots a pair of laser beams that can be completely avoided by staying on the wall above him. His third form is where the battle gets nasty. He actually has two bodies with separate life bars here; he alternates between attacking with a large alien-ish body, a trio of colored heads, and a large head on the floor. He can shoot a triangular beam or a narrow sweeping beam as the alien, and he can suck in or blow out a bunch of debris as the floor head. The colored heads each have one specific attack (electricity for yellow, water for blue, fire for red) that will be chosen randomly each time. The floor head is the hardest part of this fight, not so much the other two attack patterns. Destroying one of the two main forms will cause it to be removed from the battle. Zero doesn't seem to have it too bad, since he seems to be able to destroy the floor head quicker than X can but can't hit the alien as easily. My suggestion for this battle? Don't get hit in the first two parts of it, have full Sub-Tanks, and try to finish him off quickly.

With that, the Final Weapon starts to self-destruct, X speeds away back to Earth, and I close the curtains on this Let's Play. I quite like Mega Man X4; I might even consider it one of my favorite games in the series. It has decent level design and bosses, a good soundtrack, okay weapons, nice graphics...about my only real complaint with this game is the plot. Well, and maybe the final battle, how lengthy and tedious it is. There are certainly more annoying final bosses in the series, though (X3 says hello), as well as more annoying plots, or at least plot developments. It's well worth playing if you like Mega Man X games, though I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point if you're used to the original Mega Man. I will say right now that while I do have the next few projects planned, I don't see myself starting any of them for at least a couple weeks. My school year is almost over, and the stress will get worse before it gets better. And, as I said in the video, I'll be playing other games a bit on my own time as well. I'd actually like to get into indie gaming more, but I haven't looked into it too much yet, though Entanma Project and the Ouya helped. (What is the Ouya? It's a new video game console that will be out in early June. I preordered mine, and I recommend that anyone who is interested in playing or developing video games look into it.) As always, though, my thanks to everyone for watching, and I will see you next time!
