With the first world of the game, Kongo Jungle, finished, we move on to the second, Monkey Mines. It starts off with a new level theme, but 2-1, Winky's Walkway, is still quite easy and very short, though with great music (Life in the Mines). It introduces Winky, the next animal buddy, who is a frog that moves in hops and leaps. He can jump high and jump on spiked enemies that would damage the Kongs (though certain obstacles still damage him). 2-2, Mine Cart Carnage, well...this is what the mines are all about! You're riding a mine cart over a track full of gaps (jump over them), and later on, crashed carts (jump over them) and a special mine cart-riding Kremling (jump over them). It's a simple enough level, if a bit fast-paced. 2-3, Bouncy Bonanza, turns up the difficulty a bit. It's back into the caves for this one, and this time, we have lots of bouncing Kremlings to deal with, as well as Zingers and bouncy tires on platforms over bottomless pits. Winky also shows up, and I almost feel like I shouldn't have used him because he almost makes the second half of the level too easy (since he can jump on the Zingers instead of just avoiding them).
