Log Out Messenger | How to Logout and Remove Account on Messenger
0Logging out of Messenger might seem confusing at first because the app doesn’t have a visible log-out button. Whether you're trying to switch accounts or completely remove Messenger access from your device, this video shows you how to do it step-by-step using both the app’s built-in settings and some workarounds.
To begin, if you have multiple Messenger accounts added to the app, you can remove any of them—except the one currently logged in—by tapping *Switch Profile* from the menu. Swipe left on the account you want to remove and tap the trash icon. This will delete the selected account from Messenger.
However, the real challenge is logging out of your active Messenger account. Since there's no direct option, you'll need to go through the *Account Center* to do this. Open Messenger, tap the menu icon, go to *Settings**, scroll down and tap **Account Center**. From there, select **Password and Security**, then tap **Where You're Logged In**. You'll see a list of devices that are currently signed in. Tap **Select Devices**, choose **Select All**, and tap **Log Out* to disconnect all active sessions tied to your Messenger account.
For *Android users**, there's an additional method that works well: resetting the Messenger app. Long-press on the Messenger icon, tap the **i* icon to open App Info, then go to **Storage**. Tap **Clear Cache**, followed by **Clear Data**. This will log you out of Messenger by wiping your saved login info.
As a final step, be sure to log out of the Facebook app as well. Since Messenger is linked to Facebook, staying logged in there can automatically sign you back in. Once you’ve completed these steps, reopening Messenger will prompt a login screen, confirming that you’ve successfully logged out.
