Longplay: The Ultimate Doom (Knee-Deep in the Dead)
Original Game by: Id Software
Source Port: DSDA-Doom
Not the first FPS, but the definitive one (alongside Quake). Doom still holds up almost 30 years later thanks to its great game design and iconic demons, and the community has kept it and its sequels alive with constant new content in the form of source ports to everything under the sun and new maps.
Doom 1 is split across three episodes; the later rerelease Ultimate Doom added a fourth, Thy Flesh Consumed, and John Romero would create a fifth, Sigil, for the game's 25th anniversary. Each of these episodes has eight maps and one secret map that must be found with a secret exit. This is the first episode, Knee-Deep in the Dead. While all of Doom 1 is well liked, KDITD is considered the high point due to John Romero's strong level design.
