If, despite my various protestations and explanations, you couldn't help but find the past couple (or several) puzzles a fair bit pedestrian and uninspiring, I think that these next few should provide far more entertainment and ponderous process to their proper preparation.

Puzzle 24: Delete Over 20 Blocks

Now, I did promise some more weird stuff, and here's a little taste now. It's not exactly unthinkable to achieve, but it's not exactly a low-hanging branch either.

I will confess that for quite some time ago, I lost my sense of scale entirely and operated under the odd impression that my goal was merely the same (in theory, anyway) as the 4x4 puzzle... uh... because... I have no idea. I must've forgotten where I left my basic multiplication tables.

In all fairness, I wasn't TOO far off in this, because it would only require another couple pairs of dropped pieces in the right places to finish the job, and lots of contiguous clears at once would be able to do the trick, no doubt... but given the particular challenge involved in the 4x4 puzzle, it's no stretch at all to suggest that such a maneuver would surely prove too much for my limitations when it came to exercise in speed and dexterity.

The other, in many ways simpler, course of action is to abuse those special pieces that come along every so often to delete all consecutively adjacent tiles of the same color as the triggering clear. Of course, this means you'll need to build up your Lumines matrix with long and winding formations of contiguous like-colored squares in anticipation of one of the pieces you crave.

Besides that, you won't actually know which color will contain the special square, so you can't really focus exclusively on one over the other, or else you run the serious risk of clearing barely anything with that valuable piece when you actually do get it.

Thankfully, 20 squares is barely anything in the time it takes for the piece you need to arrive, so as long as you focus on building two entwined serpentine sets of colorful clearable constructions of fairly considerable size, the plan ought to go off without much trouble at all.
