3Welcome back to Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, a reboot of 2008's Mirror's Edge with improved graphics, refined gameplay, and a completely original story. The tale follows Faith, a Runner in Glass, Cascadia, a fictional country in a fantasy world where a comunist government got overtaken by private corporations. After a stint in Kreuger's Juvenile home for a period of three months and finding herself in debt to Dogen, a local crime boss, Faith is finally released and must work off her debt as soon as possible. On a high-paying job, she finds herself tailing an OMNISTAT spy and steals something valuable from him. This device could be her salvation or her unmaking. The game primarily focuses on Parkour even though it has fighting and combat ever now and then. It is a first person 3D platformer.
After helping Nomad out with the OutCaste situation, Noah believes Faith to be ready for the next job. It turns out to be a pretty big job. Faith is to enter Elysium Laboratories, grab a vial, and get out for a lot of Scrip. However, Noah doesn't have complete faith in Faith yet and he sends Icarus along with her to watch over her from the outside. She is given a shotgun, a penetration tool that can copy all the data on a system onto itself when "fired." Faith just has to put it onto the right console for it to work.
Icarus informs her of an open window in the exterior of the building which is utilises to infiltrate the building. Being the evening, there aren't a whole lot of people still in the labs. Just a few dedicated workers burning the midnight oil. She first makes her way to the elevator shaft where she climbs it up half way and hitches a ride on an elevator the other half. From there, she uses the ventilations to arrive at the offices. From there, it's only a matter of finding the correct console on floor 4H. However, things can't always be smooth sailing for Faith quickly finds out that Kreuger, the man responsible for her parents' death is also in the same building.
Regardless, she ignores the man for the time being and focuses on finding the terminal. She fires the Shotgun and the data transfer is soon complete within a matter of seconds. However, just as she is about to leave, she notices something very peculiar. It seems to be a covert operative of sorts, complete with a Combat Knife and Night Vision that has somehow found his way into Elysium as well. Perhaps it is he who had opened the window on the exterior of the building earlier.
The spy uses a sophisticated gadget to blow open a locked door and vents from there till he reaches a strange part of the building full of servers. Faith follows him inside only to find an Elysium doctor dead and the spy using his own Shotgun at a much more important-looking workstation. As Faith hears Kreuger approaching behind her, she immedeatly hides. Kreuger notices the spy and fails to notice Faith due to tunnel vision. He tells his bodyguard to get rid of the spy and in the short bout of combat that followed, the spy was subdued and his shotgun fell near Faith's location. Without wasting any more time, the spy took his own life by biting down on some Cyanide. Faith took this opportunity to grab the device, but that's when Kreuger noticed her. Both froze for a moment before Faith grabbed the data and ran, kicking the console next to the door to keep it shut.
While that took care of the threat behind her, she still had to wade through an entire army of threats that were now alerted to her presence. Icarus had tossed her a line on the floor below and as soon as Faith started ziplining on it, Icarus drew the attention of the VTOLs and ran like all hell to distract them while Faith could make it back to the Cabal.
Once there, Faith and Noah had a heated row where Faith declared that she stole the device because it could provide her with a way to pay off her debts to Dogen while Noah expressed his disappointment in and concern for her. Things broke off when Icarus arrived to crash the party. Faith later had dreams of her past and the November Riots when Kreuger had executed her parents.
