[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [9] | Morgiah's Wedding | A play for power | Scourg Barrow | King of Worms
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Temple of Kynareath.
Princess Morgiah of Wayrest had summoned us to her home in Castle Wayrest by way of courier promising us information about the Emperor's Letter that got lost in transit.
So, we decided to pay her a visit, but before she would let us in on the gossip, we would have to do her a favour and deliver a letter of hers to the Necromancers. Specifically, the King of Worms who resides in Scourg Barrow, a haunt in the Dragontail Mountains.
Despite our every objection to having any sort of affiliation with anybody that had anything to do with stealing the final rest of every living creature, our Emperor's mission outweighed our principles and we decided to head over to this person's defence to deliver the letter ourselves.
His Castle, if it could be called that, had been decorated in a rather bleak setting matching the whole vibe, with coffins and skeletons and even zombies guarding the entrance to his chambers.
With the use of our clairvoyance and invisibility, we managed to dodge our enemies and headed straight for the self-proclaimed King. The edgy creature simply thanked us for the delivery and told us that should we make it back out of the dungeon alive, we are to deliver a letter to Princess Morgiah herself. I suppose he had not anticipated us knowing a Teleport spell, so we simply teleported back to the recall anchor that we had placed right in front of Princess Morgiah and gave her the fright of her life.
She then confided in us that the letter had actually been stolen by the Thieves' Guild and handed over to Gortwog for use as political leverage for whatever his nefarious purposes deemed fit. In addition, the Emperor had addressed the letter to Queen Aubk-i, who was apparently too innocent for the contents within and that to figure out what truly happened to the letter, we should ask some of the servants in Castle Daggerfall about it.
As for the letter, Strangeblood's clairvoyance combined with his knowledge of the Elder Scrolls told him that Morgiah had effectively made a deal with the King of Worms and had secured a position of great power and influence in one of the courts of Summerset Isle. She had achieved this by trading her first, whatsoever that may be, to let the King that she had been targeting speak to his deceased son. That is where the King of Worms figured into the story.
After completing this task, Strangeblood had to wash the foul taste of it all from his mouth.
Here is how Strangeblood helped set up Princess Morgiah's Wedding:
00:00 Introduction
03:56 Princess Morgiah's deal
06:41 Scourg Barrow
10:33 The King of Worms's request
13:03 Information about the letter
16:15 An invitation to a wedding and the whole affair explained
