Let's Play Binary Domain | Episode 9: Chaos Theory | Chapter 5: Intelligent Artifice | Escape
1Welcome back to Binary Domain, a futuristic Sci-Fi Third Person Shooter Developed by SEGA that takes place in Japan in the year 2080. Cybernetics have advanced and androids are being used as the predominant force in the world. In order to maintian laws and peace, the New Geneva Convention has been signed and a special task force named RUST has been prepared to deal with international violations in the field of robotics and robotic warfare. Our protagonist, Daniel Marshall, belongs to RUST and has been tasked with infiltrating Japan and arresting Amada, a genius in the field of Robotics, for his transgressions. To that effect, other members of RUST will also be joining them. The game focuses primarily on shootouts, but it also has RPG mechanics with gear and upgrades. It also features a trust system for all your allies that determines how favourably they follow you or respond to your commands. The game also has a voice command feature for deeper immersion, but we have kept that turned off since we are employing commentary.
Dan remembers his childhood when he beat his first robot to dysfunction for not protecting his mother from his father. In the middle of his dream, he wakes up in the middle of a disposal area for Amada Corp wondering why he's still alive and why Amada decided to leave his weapons and gear with him. Before he could find answers, he was attacked by discarded hollow children and had to team up with Shindo of the Resistance and Inspector Kurosawa of the Police to find a way out of the situation.
Their path ahead led them through a variety of hallways full of discarded Hollow Children, all seeking to find and kill them. Escaping them is no easy task, but they ultimately manage to find an elevator to take them upstairs. However, Shindo gets grabbed by a Hollow Child.
As it turns out, the robot looks just like Yoshiki, and remembering his betrayal, he decides to stay behind and settle his score with his past and his misplaced trust.
Dan and Kurosawa head upstairs and Dan finds his signal again. His commanding officer tells him that the rest of the RUST Crew has already reached Amada Corporation and instructs them on where to go to regroup.
Upon regrouping, Headquarters informs them that Amada has hacked into the US COMPLAN to execute order 0988 so that the US launches weapons of Mass Destruction at every city's capital around the globe. There's also another target on the list: Amada Corporation. Realising that Amada would rather bury himself alive instead of letting the evidence escape, the team think of a plan and come to the conclusion that eliminating the satellite antenna atop the building should eliminate Amada's abilities to send the signal that has been hijacking the US COMPLAN.
With that decided, they rush to the roof and find a Cerberus guarding the area, a gigantic robot dog. The fight with this dog is pretty short and the robot loses its lower half by the end. Rachel now hands Dan her rocket launcher and instructs him to target the dish from the front.
But as soon as Dan moves over to the other side, the Cerberus awakens again and ambushes Big Bo from behind, dragging him down into the depths.
Once Dan is done eliminating the satellite dish, Big Bo reappears from within the ashes. However, there isn't much time to celebrate as they must now make haste and escape the collapsing building that got inexplicably damaged by one single RPG.
As they run through the crumbling frame of the skyscraper, the ground gives in and Dan makes a leap of faith for the other end when Boateng grabs him and pulls him up to safety.
But all is still not cheers and joy for Faye is still trapped with Amada and so is Cain. Dan wants to go rescue her, but Charlie and Bo explain to him how she is actually the child of a Hollow Child and is in direct violent of the New Geneva Convention Act 21 and must be eliminated.
