Let's Play Mirror's Edge: Catalyst | Finale: The Shard | Uploading the Reflection Virus | Isabel
Welcome back to Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, a reboot of 2008's Mirror's Edge with improved graphics, refined gameplay, and a completely original story. The tale follows Faith, a Runner in Glass, Cascadia, a fictional country in a fantasy world where a communist government got overtaken by private corporations. After a stint in Kreuger's Juvenile home for a period of three months and finding herself in debt to Dogen, a local crime boss, Faith is finally released and must work off her debt as soon as possible. On a high-paying job, she finds herself tailing an OMNISTAT spy and steals something valuable from him. This device could be her salvation or her unmaking. The game primarily focuses on Parkour even though it has fighting and combat every now and then. It is a first person 3D platformer.
With everything in place, Faith takes the final step to set an irrevocable series of events in motion by getting atop a train she had diverted to the Shard with the singular mission of climbing the collapsing building already on high alert because of the recent Black November bombings. Her objective is to get to the top wehre the servers for Reflection are stored and upload the signed and authorised virus to rid all of Cascadia of the virus.
She hops on to the train and dodges some obstacles to come out of the other side of the tunnel in front of the pristine marvel of architecture of Glass City known as The Shard. She immediately jumps on to the most accesible glass cieling and dodges breaking glass panels as she makes her way to the elevators. Plastic has commandeered a few drones to not only monitor Faith's progress, but also help her along the journey by activating systems as necessary for her traversal.
Faith keeps climbing the giant structure and taking the aid of elevators and her MAGROPE to pull herself up to unreachable heights every now and then amidst fallign debris and breaking footing that would plummet her into the abyss, resulting in one long fall and her complete obliteration.
She even finds trees inside the structure and learns some fragile truths behind the propaganda of Cascadia. At one point, she uses her MAGROPE to attach onto the blades of a windmill and breaks through a window to enter an atrium of sorts. She turns around the corner only to find herself face to face with a whole squad of KSEC forces. While Plastic manages to get the lift open, she defeats all the guards, which is considerably easy considering the fact that they're all neatly stacked together, which makes them collide into each other like a bunch of bowling pins.
Once the elevators doors are open, Faith begins climbing the pipes upstairs and accesses the main hub of Reflection wherein she places the device with the virus and begins uploading it. That is when Gabriel Kreuger arrives with two Sentinels, looking to force Faith's complaince. Faith defeats the Sentinels, but Kreuger breaks into a run for the device. Faith realises his intentions and tackles him in mid air. Gabriel tries taking matters into his own hands, but Faith turns out to be a better fighter and is about to beat him into a bloody pulp when Isabel walks into the scene. She tries to remove the device when the virus upload is completed and she feels the immediate impacts of the action. She then runs away from the scene, causing Faith to give chase.
When Faith finally finds her, they engage in martial combat and decide to communicate with their fists and reveal truths. That's when Gabriel Kreuger arrives on scene in a VTOL and tries killing Faith. Unfortunately for him, debris falls on his chopper, causing him to topple over onto the helipad. Kate first saves Faith from the collapsing structure and tries to save Gabe when it collapses completely, leaving Faith to find shelter in the dilapidated ruins. That's when she sees Kate in a KSEC VTOL and decides to go get a tattoo of her mother's painting on her arm. Then they live in Noah's Lair. The end.
