Let's Play Binary Domain | Episode 8: Amada Corp | Chapter 5: Intelligent Artifice | Assault
4Welcome back to Binary Domain, a futuristic Sci-Fi Third Person Shooter Developed by SEGA that takes place in Japan in the year 2080. Cybernetics have advanced and androids are being used as the predominant force in the world. In order to maintian laws and peace, the New Geneva Convention has been signed and a special task force named RUST has been prepared to deal with international violations in the field of robotics and robotic warfare. Our protagonist, Daniel Marshall, belongs to RUST and has been tasked with infiltrating Japan and arresting Amada, a genius in the field of Robotics, for his transgressions. To that effect, other members of RUST will also be joining them. The game focuses primarily on shootouts, but it also has RPG mechanics with gear and upgrades. It also features a trust system for all your allies that determines how favourably they follow you or respond to your commands. The game also has a voice command feature for deeper immersion, but we have kept that turned off since we are employing commentary.
After infiltrating Amada Corp right through the front gates, Dan, Faye, Cain, and Shindo begins travelling deeper into the facility to find and apprehend Amada. However, it would seem that every android in the facility is armed and out for their blood as they find a group of three Shinobi bots welcoming them to the establishment.
Not only that but the company's lobby is also protected by a gigantic tentacled robot known as the Medusa. This thing has an exposed core, but it can move it around on its body to defend it. Not only that, but it also uses its tentacles to grasp and crush enemies in addition to firing bullets at them.
The team decided to focus their fire on the cores of the tentacles in order to render them inoperable first and leave the Meduse defenceless. Dan then started climbing one of them but the Medusa yeeted him onto the balcony. From there, he had to first get the rest of his team to him by sending an elevator down. Then it was only a matter of battering the core till it gave up while dealing with the occasional reinforcements.
They then proceeded further into the facility to come across a central surveillance booth. The team decided to split, leaving Cain there so that he could provide enhanced reconnaissance while the rest of the team proceeded to find data on the Hollow Children.
After being led through a maze of hallways and fighting a new kind of armoured enemy that takes two entire magazines to render useless, the team finally reached a research area of sorts to gather the required evidence from Amada Corp.
However, after two failed intrusions, a prototype robot in the form of Godzilla was activated and started attacking the team. It even had the ability to shoot a high-powered plasma beam from its mouth. Named Gaussius, Dan made quick work of its eyesight and from there on out, the creature was attacking any and all sources of sounds that it could hear.
So Faye came up with a plan to shoot the alarm system to create sounds with which to distract it while the team went to work on damaging its cores. After a brief fight, the Gaussius had been defeated.
But the team wasn't out of trouble yet for Police Inspector Kurosawa walked in with an army of androids and commanded the RUST Crew to surrender, having caught them at a massive disadvantage. While Dan was still thinking of a plan, the robots suddenly started glitching out and they all fell to the ground. Before the team could take the opportunity to escape, Amada himself rolled into the situation to make it a three-way Mexican standoff with the old man holding all the cards.
When CN-7 and Dan tried to apprehend him, he simply used the deactivated androids to put them at a disadvantage and turned Cain against his former allies. Dan was then knocked out.
