The point of the game is to control your runner and explore the maze without dying. You must move your character to avoid traps, where the maze walls seals itself. Endless runners are some of the most addictive games on the market (so to speak) these days. There's something about the fast pace, the breakneck speed, the twists, the turns, and the daring jumps that put you within a hair's breadth of your unfortunate and messy demise.

The game at first seems to be just another movie tie-in product that's cashing in on the craze over endless runners. While part of this may be true, it cannot be denied that it is a fun game in its own right. It may indeed be a movie tie-in, but that's no reason to dismiss it off hand. Taken as a game outside of any movie or franchise, it's still pretty fun and can be enjoyed even without any prior knowledge of either the movie or the book it was based on.

The graphics are certainly eye-catching, and while they may not be quite as photorealistic as is possible, they are definitely in the top echelon of mobile game graphics. The environments are all detailed rather well, with crumbling blocks, shifting stones, and all sorts of other aspects all working nicely together to create some impressive aesthetics. Add the well-designed and applied sounds to that, and you've got some great gaming atmosphere.

As with any other endless runner, you'll swipe at your screen do do the different motions from dodging left or right, or jumping up and sliding down. Careful control of these and mastery over them will allow you to run through the maze well enough. It can be tricky at first, especially if you're not really all that accustomed to endless runners, but the game starts you off slowly enough, so you'll have enough time to get used to things as you progress.

Also like other endless runners, you've got a bunch of different upgrades to purchase for your runners. You can do this with the coins you collect while playing, or with real-world moneys (yes, pluralizing it like that works, I have commanded it, so it shall be. Besides, it sounds fun.) through various IAPs. You don't have to purchase anything, but it can speed the process along as there are many things to unlock.

You'll start out with a fairly slow runner (or "glader" as the game calls them) who is adequate for the task, but isn't anything really special. There are faster and better runners to unlock, and each of these can be upgraded with other bonuses. These upgrades can be a bit costly in terms of in-game coins, so be careful with how you budget your coins.

The mazes themselves are a lot of fun, and the game isn't quite "endless" during the running segments as there's a definite end to the levels, but they're still enjoyable. Throughout each, you'll have to collect certain clues. You don't -have- to, but doing so improves your score and in turn your coins. You'll also collect coins, gems, and other sparkly things which also increase your money, so don't miss out on them.
