Don't underestimate this heap of scrap metal, because this can turn enemies to real scrap. Start small to big in size in destroying enemies here in Scrap Tank. Your mission is to be the drive of this tank and shoot down all vehicles; tanks, fighter planes, helicopters, and Chinooks. As your level goes up, more and more enemies will appear. Collect the scrap from the destroyed enemies and use them to build up your scrap tank. Add various combinations of weapons like laser guns, flak cannons, rocket launchers, and machine guns. Build the best tank and try to aim for the highest score!

There are many different types of vehicles which are up there in terms of awesomeness and bad assery. You've got dirt bikes, with which you can perform all sorts of amazing stunts. You've got monster trucks, which can crush lesser vehicles to powdered steel and aluminum beneath their giant wheels. But all of these rather pale in comparison though, to the all powerful and all awesome, tank. And that's exactly the vehicle that you're going to be taking a hold of in Scrap Tank, so hold on to your horses, and let's take a look at this guy.

Scrap Tank looks at first to be just another one of those physics-based stunt racers where you have to tilt backwards and forwards as you navigate all sorts of treacherous terrain. Actually, it's more of a side scrolling shooter, making for a pleasant change of pace.

The graphics aren't anything special in this game, but they are above average. You've got a lot of detail in the different sprites, and while there aren't all that many special animations in them, they do look pretty spiffy even if they are relatively static. This is slightly averted with the player controlled sprite though, which changes and morphs depending on what armaments are connected to it. The backgrounds are fairly spiffy too though, with a nice parallax effect going that highlights the post-apocalyptic wasteland that you're slogging through. Sure, it's not pretty, but then again, post-apocalyptica isn't meant to be pretty.

Of note though, are the effects. While the rest of the graphics may be in the above average B- or B range at best, the effects are certainly more in the excellent A- to A section of the chart. You've got all of the different shots that are fired having their own little glow effects, the explosions that light up the different sprites, and the smoke that pours out of the ruined carcasses of the ships that you shoot down. They all come together to make for some nice action-packed graphics.

The game itself is pretty simple. You take control of a tank of mass destruction, and wade through wave after wave of bad guys. Sure, it's fairly simplistic, but hey, it works, and it's fun, so I'm not going to be complaining any time soon. In addition to wading through the aforementioned waves, you've also got to upgrade your tank in what is probably the most enjoyable aspect of the game. You'll be able to add new weapons for one, upgrade your armor for another, and other goodies... for a third, I suppose? The different weapons will alter how your tank looks, and of course how it fires. Different weaponry will be shown differently, and will also range in type of attacks from the standard machine gun to the more futuristic laser cannons (always fun). You'll have to take down more bad guys though, as the better weapons all cost more loot.
