We now begin a new adventure, this time all the way on another planet as I go through Metroid Dread as my new playthrough.

Starting off as I mentioned in the opening cutscenes of the game, I haven't really played a lot of Metroid games, the most recent game I've played being Samus Returns and my first Metroid game being Prime 3: Corruption.

Either way, near the end of the cutscene we have arrived on the planet ZDR and arrived at the depths of the planet where we encounter an unknown figure who makes it very clear that it's very hostile, to the point where it manages to subdue Samus but for some unexplained reason left her alive.

From here we get into gameplay, since I've played Samus Returns a lot of the mechanics in this game are very familiar to me, so expect me to be using the melee counters a lot, just as soon as I get a handle on enemy and boss behaviour.

Arriving at a network station, we communicate with Adam, who reveals to us that our assailant is a Chozo. Other than that, Adam tells us that our main priority will be to get back up to the surface of the planet.

Going further, we encounter the first E.M.M.I in the game and just shooting it a few times made it clear there's no way to hurt them normally, evading the E.M.M.I leads us into a room containing some sort of brain called a Central Unit, interacting with it grants us the Omega Cannon, though when I tried to leave the area, the E.M.M.I that was there caught me, of course my mistake there was rushing so that's entirely my fault. Taking out the E.M.M.I seems to require the use of the Omega Cannon so there's a plan but the cannon is only able to take out one E.M.M.I so we'll have to find another central unit to take out another.

Even further in, we come across a door that doesn't look like any of the other doors before, going inside reveals that an E.M.M.I is there. Evading this second E.M.M.I is a lot tougher since it's able to climb walls while the first one couldn't. As I keep dodging the E.M.M.I I eventually come across the Charge Beam, which allows me to finally open doors that required it. Using the upgrade, I was able to explore more of the area and activate a mechanism that opens up doors that required thermal energy flowing through them.

Following this flow of thermal energy even through the E.M.M.I zone lead me to the second Central Unit, though unlike the first one which seems be have been somewhat disabled, this one is active and hostile, taking it out grants us the Omega Cannon again to take out the E.M.M.I, speaking of said E.M.M.I, taking the Central Unit out seems to put the E.M.M.I in a permanent pursuit mode, meaning it's going to constantly chase me until it either captures me or gets taken out. Of course, the Omega Cannon has a new feature here called the Omega Stream which is needed to expose the E.M.M.I core to an Omega Blaster shot.

Disabling the second E.M.M.I grants us a new ability, the Spider Magnet, which allows us to climb the blue walls we've been seeing throughout the place. Using the wall climbing ability, we try to make further progress in getting to the sruface of ZDR, coming across a boss door and the boss behind it, Corpius, who has the ability to become invisible, beating it grants us said ability which is a Aeion ability, something that was first introduced in Samus Returns.

With everything we've gotten up to this point, we make it all the way to an elevator, which allows us to head upwards from Artaria to Cataris. I explore a bit of Cataris before ending the video after debriefing Adam on the progress made.
