Metroid Dread Playthrough Part 6
After taking out the E.M.M.I in the last part and getting the Speed Booster, we use our newfound abiility to access places that we couldn't get to before such as breaking those orange blocks by charging at them with the speed booster.
Breaking the speed booster blocks in Dairon leads us to a teleportal that sends us back to Artaria, where we continue using the Speed Booster to make progress by smashing through the Speed Booster blocks, this eventually leads us to the Grapple Beam upgrade.
We get to test out our upgrade and use it to head back to Dairon through an elevator near where we got the Grapple Beam. Then we take another elevator to a new area that was blocked off by a grapple beam box by pulling it out of the way.
The new area, Ferenia, is where we learn about the mysterious enemy who attacked Samus all the way back at the start of the game. Though not before she gets a very close shave from an E.M.M.I. only reason Samus survives that encounter is due to the E.M.M.I getting deactivated before it had a chance to attack. The one who disabled the E.M.M.I? A Chozo by the name of Quiet Robe who then explains how Samus was lead to this planet by Raven Beak, a Chozo from a tribe separate to that of Quiet Robe's. The reason why Raven Beak lead Samus to ZDR? To obtain the Metroid DNA that Samus has ever since the events of Fusion, and Raven Beak has taken control of the E.M.M.Is in order to do just that. Samus promises Quiet Robe that she will put a stop to Raven Beak, and Quiet Robe opens the path forward to reach the upper areas in Burenia.
Unfortunately, after opening the path, a robotic chozo soldier then kills off Quiet Robe, which meant that Raven Beak no longer has a need for a Thoha Chozo, but he didn't really have a use for a Thoha after Samus made the entire Metroid race go extinct. Raven Beak's plan originally involved using the Metroids as weapons not unlike how the Space Pirates did the exact same thing. Though Raven Beak's soldiers ran into X parasites while trying to capture the Metroids, and Fusion has shown just how equally dangerous the X are, such that Raven Beak had to put his plan on hold to contain the X that made it ZDR posing as one of his soldiers. By the time he had contained the X, the Federation had already sent Samus to SR388 to eliminate the Metroids ruining his plan, at least, until the X infected Samus and the Federation used Metroid DNA to allow Samus to survive her infection.
We eliminate Quiet Robe's killer and then start making our way to Burenia, along the way we come across a Shinespark puzzle, one I think I overcomplicated the solution to now that I've reviewed the footage.
Taking another elevator back down to Dairon, we reach a network station to update Adam on everything that Quiet Robe has explained to us. Adam also confirms that the remaining E.M.M.Is are also deactivated giving us a safe passage through the E.M.M.I zones. Making our way back to Burenia, we access the passage that Quiet Robe has opened up for us and we'll continue exploration of the areas past it in the next part.
