[MHW] Day 1 with Iceborne beta
Just mindless stuff I recorded during the Iceborne beta, available a week earlier for PSPlus members. I had no idea how public matchmaking works, or if it even exists for the beta.
I'm more or less just using this space to rant on the following.
So Iceborne beta for Monster Hunter: World... it's just more Monster Hunter: World albeit without all the one shots we've been getting for the past 6 months or so.
The new mechanics in the game basically allow us to use the L2 button as part of the weapons' moveset. It opens up new possibilities like accidentally going into slinger mode when trying to pull off the new moves.
Being able to use the slinger with the weapon drawn is a good quality of life, but we still gotta sheathe the weapons to pick up or swap slinger ammo.
I'm not particularly interested with the clutch claw, as I've learnt from using Insect Glaive in the base game, that throwing my character towards a raging monster is not a smart idea most of the time.
Speaking of Insect Glaive, I'm surprised that they added another layer of micromanaging we get to do. On top of paying attention to the hunter's stamina, kinsect's stamina, kinsect buff timer, kinsect powder, we now are able feed the kinsect dung pods or poison knives once in a while to keep it juiced up.
All in all, I am not hyped for Iceborne for one simple reason: I am not at all convinced that Master Rank won't be just more one shot fiesta. I have no faith in them creating a higher difficulty that works within the constraints of their own game.
Time will tell if Master Rank is gonna be another lineup of arch tempered frustrations, and I'm willing to sit this one out for a good while to find out.
