Screw all that sleep bombing nonsense.

Sub-4 is actually doable, but it requires good RNG to interrupt Kirin from running all the way to its nest. That area transition takes nearly 2 minutes. However the only way to do this is either a mount, KO, or stagger. All of this is incredibly hard to get on demand once Kirin starts limping. So I'm not really going to grind for that.

So the obvious question here is why I'm using the Rathalos SnS instead of the Anjanath SnS even though I said the Anja one was better. The answer is cause I felt like it, but also that there's some extra math that I feel most comparisons have neglected. Nearly all the numbers I've seen neglect to mention Rath gets white sharpness with Handicraft, Anjanath doesn't. You need 4-5 points though, which makes this comparison a bit annoying.

Getting 5 points of Handicraft requires giving up your charm slot and one of your chest or leg slots. That would usually be enough to get 1-2 offensive skills. So if we're going to let Corona have the benefits of white sharpness, you'll have to give Anja's something as well. Max Might is the obvious one to offset the negative crit, but even after maxing that (Charm 2 points, 1 size 2 deco slot) you'll have some spare points left over. To simplify things lets just give it 2 attack (Dober chest), so 6 true raw.

Base stats are
Anja - 210 raw, 240 fire, -20% affinity
Rath - 190 raw, 180 fire, +20% affinity, size 1 slot

Both are rare 7 so I assume standard Affinity/Attack augments. The 1 slot I'll value at 3 true raw, so this lowers Anja's advantage from the free armor slots to 3. (Note I just realized I forgot to include this in the calcs, oops)

I'm going to assume Attack 4+ (5 affinity), WE (50 affinity), and the augment (10 affinity). This puts Rath at 85%. Anjanath gets 30 from Max Might which puts it at 75%. Ignore Crit Boost for this comparison. I'm not actually going to factor in the attack from the Attack skill, since I'm lazy, but I'll include the augment.

Crit Adjusted Raw
Anja - 215 * (1+ 0.75 * 0.25) = 255.3125
Rath - 195 * (1 + 0.85 * 0.25) = 236.4375

Sharpness Adjustments
Anja - 255.3125 * 1.2 = 306.375
Rath - 236.4375 * 1.32 = 312.0975

Slight edge for Rath while white is active, except now you have to compare element as well. I'm ignoring Crit Ele here cause it's a pain to calculate and not all builds will run it.

Sharpness Adjusted
Anja - 24 * 1.0625 = 25.5
Rath - 18 * 1.125 = 20.25

So you're looking at +6 effective raw (Edit +1.725 if you include the 3 raw I mentioned earlier) vs -5 element. Which is more or less even actually, which sort of brings up the question of does it really matter. I will say the 10% critical gap scales into more effective raw if you assume the build takes Critical Boost.

Note that this assumes that Rath stays in white and Anja has Max Might active. Everything gets real messy if neither of those are true, and I will say that Kirin is one of those monsters where Max Might isn't a guaranteed freebie. So I thought I'd at least try bringing up Corona as a viable alternative under specific circumstances. I'm not counting Protective Polish against Rath since Anja has a decent bit of blue but not enough to avoid dropping into green without it.

Also I did the simplest example Max Might setup I can think of, there's likely a better setup using the Nerg Helmet and swapping the WE piece to Rathalos Chest which still keeps Crit Element. You might lose a point of Crit Boost though so you'd have to compensate elsewhere.
