tfw no blue cat (dog) hiding under my floorboards so she can hug me. I love her random trivia and the way she gets so much enjoyment out of totally bizarre or out of the blue conversation topics. It makes her streams feel so cozy and intimate. Also the way she grabs her viewers is adorable and the way she says stuff like this makes it even better. Who would want to run away from someone so wonderful?

0:01 Usual TN on Soya’s name/nickname/first-person pronoun use: Of course, there’s only one first-person pronoun in English, but it’s especially important to note in this case exactly what she’s using to refer to herself because her normal first person pronoun and nickname is “Soya.” This is different from her family name’s normal pronunciation of “Souya,” although she’ll often just pronounce that as “Soya” anyway. She changed her first person pronoun from “Ichika” to “Soya” so that people would call her Soya because it’s easier to egosearch.
0:10 “Boko” in this context is a sound effect indicating a rough texture.
1:18 When she talks about “grabbing” people, this is the same term she always uses when she grabs people who join her membership. So if you do, don’t struggle, since she uses her claws.
1:23 As usual, Japanese words for body parts are either way more specific or way more general than in English, so “nail” and “claw” are the same word. I went with “claw” here because nails don’t “come out,” and she enjoys pretending to be a cat in order to take advantage of the hierarchy of her vtuber company/supergroup 774inc., in which the Nanashis (overlords/managers, “nanashi” being a pun on the pronunciation of “774” and meaning literally “nameless”) are the only actual cats.
1:40 I mentioned her first-person pronoun use already so I want to point out that she switches to “watakushi” (more formal, more feminine) here to try and make herself sound very dignified and serious.
1:43 This is meant to be the sound effect for a sparkle. She’s trying to make herself sound like an anime character who sparkles in a cool way because they just said something super profound or badass.
1:53 Here she starts off with the first person “ore” (very masculine, very casual), and then switches to “watashi” (slightly feminine, slightly polite). This is her way of trying to cover all her bases in terms of both guys and girls in the audience, because, truly, no-one is safe.
2:04 I didn’t put the text of it on the screen since it’s fairly obvious but the thing that interrupts her is a low battery alert. This happens fairly often with her. Also of course note her use of “watashi.”
