Welp, this is it folks! The last of the Tartarus bosses, all of whom need to be defeated for the Best ending in this game.
Jotun of Grief is a nasty foe, partly owing to his elemental resistances. This guy nullifies light/dark, as you would expect on any boss, absorbs all four magical elements as well as slash and strike attacks. What does this leave us? Pierce attacks and almighty.
Since my 99 strength Jikokuten had Vorpal Blade but no pierce attack like Primal Force, I decided I'd fuse a new Persona for the MC. She's been levelling up after all, giving me access to Cuchulainn for example, and that's a very rad physically oriented Persona to pass your skills unto.
Cuchulainn was given Apt Pupil, Primal Force, Revolution... you know, all the good stuff, and he naturally learnt Vile Assault, a pierce attack that's strengthened when attacking downed foes... Just what we need actually.
This low level party turned out to be quite suitable for fighting Jotun. Aigis and Ken specialise in pierce attacks (okay, Aigis has a lot of physicals but pierce is her regular attack, which is stronger than any tech we are limited to due to low levels), and Akihiko offers debuffs as per usual. It's actually kinda hard to connect attacks when you're not buffing the party's speed and debuffing the boss!
The strat I have designed is rather simple. The MC sets Revolution on the field and we wait until the boss uses Infuriate. Ken and Aigis have actual weapons, while MC and Aki have the +100 HP fusions which deal joke damage, so we're prepared for this. Enraged, our guys will be attacking twice and dealing higher than normal damage, with chance to knock down and dizzy.
Sometimes the boss may go for different moves. Primal Force should be reflected back with Attack Mirrors. There's also all sort of debuffs on the boss's skill list.
The worst threat by far, though, is Megidolaon. Whether Mind Charge is used to combo with it or not, this one is really threatening and, though we have Endure everywhere, a second hit is bad. Being reduced to 1 HP also means characters will have to heal up before using physical techs (applies to Ken's Cruel Attack and all of MC's stuff).
This battle might seem like one where you'd waste all of your Megido Gems (those are ridiculously tedious to farm, and I think I'm going to need all 99 for the final boss...) but we can get very good results just by attacking physically with this strategy.
Well... Now it's time for the final stretch.
