I have arrived at Solaceon Town, which is where the Pokémon Nursery and many other things are, and I visit Solaceon Ruins in this video, which is where Unown can be found, so it is worth visiting to have Unown seen for your Pokédex, then I decide to check out Lost Tower, which is on Route 209.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Before recording this video, I worked on the Friendship of some of my Pokémon, like Buneary so that I can evolve it into Lopunny in this video. I explore two optional areas, well kind of optional areas, as you are kind of required to enter them for certain purposes. I start with Solaceon Ruins, and the only Pokémon you can find there is Unown, which is the main reason why you want to enter Solaceon Ruins, because no Trainer in this game uses an Unown. Each room has Unown that spell "FRIEND", and catching them does affect a certain area which we will explore fairly soon. As for Unown as a Pokémon, it's not that great, it learns only one move, and it has very bad stats, so don't bother using one. Hidden Power is back in the game, but it can only be learned by Unown, I don't know if they will make Hidden Power exclusive to Unown, even if you transfer Pokémon from past generations that have Hidden Power, and make it so that only Unown can use it so that Hidden Power can be Unown's signature move, although it would hinder the coverage options of some Pokémon. Some items you can pick up there are the Mind Plate and Odd Incense, which power up Psychic-type moves, and the Odd Incense can be given to Mr. Mime so that you can breed Mime Jr. from Eggs.
I also show off Lost Tower, which is on Route 209, this place is optional in Platinum, but in this game, you have to explore Lost Tower to get the Hidden Move Strength. This is where you can get Gastly aside from the Old Chateau back in Eterna Forest, and you can find wild Golbat on the higher floors, but they are a lot rarer.
One very interesting reference they kept in this game is the Roughneck that you fight here, his name is Kirby, and his only Pokémon is a Cleffa, I'm not sure if it is a direct reference, as Cleffa does kind of look like Kirby.
For other items you can pick up, there is the TM for Low Sweep, an Oval Stone, which you can equip to Happiny to evolve it into Chansey, and at the highest floor, you can get a Cleanse Tag and TMs for Strength, which is the main reason you want to explore Lost Tower, and you will need Strength for later on, but you won't be able to use Strength outside of battle until you get your sixth Gym Badge. I really hate it when they place Hidden Moves that are required in what is supposed to be an optional area, this place is optional in Platinum, but in the originals, you did need to enter Lost Tower to get Strength.
As with the TMs, Low Sweep is a good Fighting-type move if you are using Monferno or Meditite, and you can even teach it to Buneary or Aipom for a coverage option. Strength, as the name states, is a strong Normal-type move you can teach to your Pokémon, this is a solid move if you are using a Normal-type like Bibarel, Lopunny, Ambipom, or even Munchlax, it can even be useful if you are using a Pokémon with a high Attack stat, like Cranidos or Gyarados.
There was one Pokémon I never explained about in the previous part, it was accessible on Route 209 and Lost Tower in Platinum, and you can find that Pokémon in the Grand Underground, that Pokémon is Duskull. This Ghost-type Pokémon will have Shadow Sneak if caught before the second Gym, otherwise at this point, it will have Will-O-Wisp, Payback, and Night Shade. Duskull isn't really too great this early on as its Attack stat feels quite low, and it isn't until Level 37 that it will evolve, and it will learn Shadow Punch upon evolving, and it can relearn the Elemental Punches. The downside is that the Reaper Cloth, which can be used to evolve Dusclops into Dusknoir when traded, is not available until the aftergame, and Dusclops is quite defensive, but the lack of Eviolite does kind of hurt its usability, as Dusclops isn't much of a damage dealer, while Dusknoir does have a good Attack stat. As for Duskull's Egg Moves, it can have some interesting moves, like Pain Split, Haze, Destiny Bond, or Imprison.
The one thing I don't like about this game is that they removed every held item that was introduced in Generation 5 onwards, like Eviolite, Rocky Helmet, Assault Vest, Weakness Policy, Heavy-Duty Boots, and many others, and that has kind of hurt Pokémon that rely on those items, I could wonder how Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire would have been if they only had items up to Gen 3, there would be no Choice Scarf, Life Orb, or Expert Belt, which would be quite limiting if that was the case.
