It's been a while since I last uploaded a video, let alone a challenge one. Not sure who's been expecting the finale of the Let's Go 0 exp playthrough I started some time back, but here it is in all its glory. It's likely more stimulating than many of the last matches of recent generation Pokemon games I did with the 0 experience framework in mind, with more defensive strats employed and higher opposition levels relative to my own.

Lorelei is one such match. Her Pokemon are mostly water and ice-types since the latter generally happen to also be dual water. With the ice-type roster still being limited, Slowbro is here in spite of not being an ice-type at all. Having grass, electric and fighting type moves may help offensively, but you have bulky foes whose own attacks really put a dent into your potential counters and checks by virtue of their high levels alone. Good luck bringing in somebody like Exeggutor, whether normal or Alolan variant, and expecting it to withstand an Ice Beam attack.

Taking care of defences becomes a priority. Dewgong certainly stands out in terms of bulk, but it lacks offensive options against Cloyster, a potential set-up sweeper of ours with a surprising Shell Smash set possible (in contrast, Gyarados cannot acquire its signature Dragon Dance in this run). Its coverage is severely lacking however, so it ends up relying on Tri Attack for offence, eventually emerging victorious (and very reliably at that). When Jynx switches in, Cloyster is fast enough to just explode in its face, killing her on sight. That's definitely the easiest way we can take out a Jynx.

Meanwhile, when Lorelei switches her own Cloyster next... I counter with Jynx, no irony intended. Outspeeding, tanking its attacks and 2HKOing when its special defence is nearly non-existent are important factors for ensuring a safe matchup here.

Slowbro is not a Pokemon I have easy answers to, and Lorelei might switch it in when Cloyster hasn't succumbed to Psychics yet. Chansey, caught as a special / rare spawn just before Victory Road, comes at a very high level and is an effective special sponge, something I lack. Whenever a special matchup is involved, I can switch it in and set up a screen of my liking, tanking but not really dealing respectable damage even with a +sp. atk. nature. Here, I make sure I inflict Toxic on the opposing Slowbro and leave a Light Screen up just before it dies. This gives Machamp, switching in against Lapras, a safe matchup should Lapras's inaccurate nukes all connect. Machamp 2HKOing with Superpower is much faster damage output than stalling with Chansey again.

And thus Lorelei goes down in this semi-stally strategy. Let's see what awaits us in the next E4 matchups!
