The third Elite, Agatha, is technically yet another poison-type specialist, in spite of her two Gengars giving her false pretense at being the ghost-type E4 member. In the older games (both RBY and FR/LG), she had an extra ghost in Haunter, something that they got rid of in these games, for better or worse.

It's likely one of the easier E4 battles in the game. Chansey can safely tank 3 out of 5 foes here, excluding Arbok and Golbat, each of whom have physical moves that put a huge dent into her. Chansey's 48 sp atk with a +spatk nature at lv. 47 leaves her a poor candidate for offence though. Somebody like Rhydon would do a much better job with super-effective Earthquake (and Rock Slide for Golbat), but fares poorly on the defensive side - Shadow Ball coming from one of the Gengars is a OHKO, for instance.

The lead Arbok should be easy prey for either Nidoking or Rhydon, both resisting its moves, but can be quite a nuisance due to its Glare leading to all sorts of haxx. At least it doesn't flinch like Golbat does.

The first Gengar Agatha uses has Will-o-Wisp, so physical counters are ineffective. Chansey is the safest check, Softboiled letting it recover its HP indefinitely. Calm Mind helps with both taking hits and actually dishing out some damage, while I end up not needing Light Screen for team support.

Jynx has a good matchup against the opposing Weezing, surviving a Shadow Ball and 2HKOing with Psychic with great ease. Cloyster, unless flinched by Air Slash, can Shell Smash against the enemy Golbat and OHKO it on the following turn. There's no exploding in the face of the last Gengar, but we can damage it with Ice Beam before going down, letting Machamp grab the final kill. Surprisingly, Dazzling Gleam, this Gengar's prized coverage, fails to OHKO in spite of Gengar's special prowess.

Cloyster using Shell Smash (but not quite doing a full sweep) has been a recurring trend in these three E4 battles. Will it go on, I wonder?
