It was water season with Legendary Dimitri as one of the bonus heroes, and I tend to have better luck in the arena when the bonus hero doesn't suck since I have no 5* +10 units in my main core. I had some fodder units I wasn't planning on using lying around in the barracks, so I gave Fallen Ashnard this new build.

Wyvern Flight can lower a foe's attack/defence by a maximum of 7 points providing that the user of the B skill has 14 or more defence than the target and isn't slower than -10 AS compared to the enemy. Ashnard seemed like the perfect recipient for the skill since his defence is that high, and his speed happens to be acceptable (perhaps on the slow side).

Speed and defence are the two stats that matter the most when trying to make the most out of the skill. Ashnard's sword already debuffs defence by 5 points alongside attack, and foddering off Jill (great unit, but I haven't been using her at all) for Spd/Def Rein 3 gives Ashnard an advantage over the enemy in the two stats we need debuffed most. He receives trait fruit for a +spd boon, and I summoner support him for boosts across the board. 31 displayed speed is effectively 35 not factoring Echidna's support and Echidna's spd/def rally+ (as you can see, the exact kind of rally Ashnard needs). This all brings Ashnard to 43 speed, meaning the opposition needs to be at 54 speed or higher to avoid being affected by Wyvern Flight. With Ashnard's sword, his rein and Wyvern Flight, the enemy will suffer a huge defence debuff and a sizeable attack debuff too. He can tank quite a lot of things this way with the exception of blue tome users like Legendary Julia and OP blues like the new Dimitri or Duo Ephraim (who often runs Galeforce and may attack Ashnard three times before he takes the aggressor down). Quick Riposte completes the set, as he's not doubling much without it any time soon.

I was trying to climb back to tier 21 and kept failing until I gave the water blessing to Norne as well (she's rather busy tanking in AR-O on Light weeks with her Pulse Smoke). I was trying to see how strong Ashnard really is, but it's yet another demonstration of Legendary Dimitri's ridiculousness - he solo'd one of the encounters without anybody sharing the kills for crying out loud. Ashnard did neutralise an enemy Echidna completely and survived a Legendary Leif double when I failed to check Brave Hector for his Panic skill. Wyvern Flight is a pretty decent investment for the arena overall, but where it truly shines is the PvE content.

Hooray for Ashnard!
