Pokemon Soul Silver 0 Exp Game Part 14: Elite Four Karen
Last member of the E4, Karen. She specialises in, what was it again? Dark? Ghost? Poison? A bit of everything, really, "all things nasty" would be a good way to put it.
Her lead Pokemon is Umbreon, famous for its tanky qualities. He's as difficult to take down as you would expect, especially with Double Team. I Screech him with Steelix ASAP (the accuracy problems should be solved by Wide Lens boosting Screech's hit rate by 20% since Steelix always moves last), then set up a layer of Toxic Spikes (which only really helps with adding some extra damage for Houndoom, the rest are immune to it) and finally switch Machamp in. Machamp's Vital Throw always connects and should OHKO after that Screech.
Murkrow is pretty easy, there's really nothing it can do against Steelix.
Now Houndoom can be quite a threat. It survives Facades, Waterfalls and whatever else our team packs, and its Flamethrower attack is an OHKO to most of our team. It also runs Nasty Plot which makes its special offence skyrocket, and Crunch/Nasty Plot means it isn't affected terribly by Gyarados's Intimidate since it retains its dual STABs' power.
What I did was attack it with Waterfall first, sacrificing Gyarados, and then finishing it off with a Quick Feet Choice Scarfed Ursaring. Yeah, I'm also surprised I was capable of outspeeding Houndoom, but doesn't the combo of CS and Quick Feet multiply speed by like 2,25 or so? Makes sense, then.
Gengar is annoying and its Destiny Bond will probably take something down. I say let him have his fun and get his kill, because all Karen has left at this point is her Vileplume.
Vileplume has some status effects that it will probably be willing to make use of, so setting up a Substitute means it wastes a turn while Dodrio gets immunity to whatever it gets hit by next turn (Petal Dance or Acid). It 2HKOs with Fly if given a Sharp Beak, which is nice.
Karen defeated and we're now ready to face the champion of the Pokemon League - Lance.
