This video is part of a much larger set that will encompass a Ship Showcase. This is the eighth video that I recorded.

Ships in this series: Strike Bomber, Ragnarok, Ragnarok II

This ship basically plays like the Arrowhead, only it has a powerful piercing Wave Cannon. The red weapon is the ringed red and blue lasers that fire straight ahead. The blue weapon fires reflecting lasers from the front and top and bottom at 45 degree angles from the Force. The yellow weapon, as usual, is highly situational, and fires yellow lasers that crawl along the top and bottom of the stage - not useful at all if there's no floor or ceiling - the blue weapon often does better overall. The Standard Force fires in four forward directions when detached, and behaves like a normal Force, staying in front of or behind your ship when detached, and coming closer if you move towards it. The Scatter Bomb Missile causes a nice AoE when it explodes, useful for taking out ground targets. The Wave Cannon pierces through solid objects, allowing you to hit whatever you're aiming at behind, making it extremely useful.

This stage is another invaded Space Corp base, and reminds me much of stage 6 from R-Type Delta, only now we have a bunch of Bydo System Alphas flying at us - a nice touch in this game. Good thing their Forces aren't invincible and also that their red lasers can be destroyed. The Strike Bomber made this stage remarkably easy with its piercing Wave Cannon, mainly because of those artillery launching Bydo with the organic shield in front of them.

The Wrecking Ball boss in this stage is made for Wave Cannons that either pierce or have AoE blasts. The weak point often stays on the other side of the ball, meaning if you played fair, you'd have to fly under the boss to shoot the boss with your Force attached to the back of your ship. With some Forces, you can throw it to the other side and let it do the attacking for you, but this doesn't work with all of them. You've got to watch out for the metal balls it drops, because eventually they release explosive artillery, which isn't good if you're cornered when the boss is using its jets to swing at you.

The Strike Bomber is basically the ship from R-Type III: The Third Lightning when you pick the Standard Force. The ship was split into three different ones for R-Type Final - the Strike Bomber, which has the piercing Wave Cannon, the Ragnarok, which has the rapid fire Wave Cannon and the Shadow Force, and the Ragnarok II, which has the Cyclone Force.
