4:01 has the final battle lasting all the way to 36:00 where the ending starts. 50:59 has The Stinger with the Sequel Hook. 1:21:13 has an interesting little message for patient players. 1:26:24 has a funny closing message.
So infiltrating the mastermind's lair, we are dealing with his security measures, and boy do they live up to being the final battle with stat jumps that would be a Difficulty Spike with any other portion. The Fans and Speakers are not so bad at all and you see I have their number entirely. However, the Raptors and Eyes of Rimsala are erratic AND capable of excessive, the latter to the point where I start using Defend and Energize with no limitation beyond limiting Energize to the Boy. Dark Toaster is also a particular pain thanks to his repeated sniping and his 40 Evade. The Death Spider has the mercy of being optional, and also having 0 Evade if you do choose to destroy any cleaning Mechadusters in cleanup sessions before the clones, because good GOD is a 6000 HP enemy with 325 ATK not fun when it's support, melee or not.
Magmar the guy auditioning for Pokemon is back and significantly stronger than ever, but thankfully we can use Reflect against him to stop his Heat Wave and Crush, which would not be good to deal with. Reflect doesn't cheese him like it would with Face, so it's on the up-and-up here. However, Magmar's movement can still be erratic and he can sometimes move to the center to heal quite a bit of HP fast if you don't interrupt that soon enough. Combine this with being far enough to the whole thing, and you see why I'm making use of Energize against the general gauntlet. Hey, I can at least treat it as an Eleventh Hour Superpower.
And, of course, the mastermind's Robot, while simple and actually a relatively fair fight, still has his stat bloat and also has sudden explosions happen behind him and to his sides, complicating things with hitting him up close. He also has a machine gun rocket launcher as his primary weapon to keep you sniped with, and he also has 110 Hit, so it's a case of the developers saying "no we don't think so" to the Ruby Heart, as well as ensuring that there's a persistent chance of getting hit by a chain of rockets even at 99 Evade from using Speed. However, making use of buff spells evens the playing field, at which point, I'm left getting to work off of reacting to whether he sidles, single jumps, or double jumps. The fight still takes its time because I'm having to do calculated strikes, but at least I'm showing that I don't need no stinkin' range attacks.
So this project is over, and I will say that it has been a blast. Secret of Evermore surprisingly ages quite nicely thanks to positives that really shine, let alone for a mid-90s RPG, made actually more clear by obvious negatives that have had it called "MST3K the video game" by some people. And I think I'd want to make a denouement comment as usual to provide my thoughts. Look forward to that. As for what I will do in the future? Gaming wise, I'll have more freedom to handle other things. However, I'm out in the open about my parents' house and the mess it had been for over 25 years, so I'll really want that addressed. Sucks that certain people have made that even harder on arbitrary thought processes of their own.
