Splatoon 3: A surprising dunk in Rainmaker [6(1)-2, Tri-stringer]
I'm sticking with the Tri-stringer for now, moving in to Rainmaker, a faster-moving target than the Tower. I'm sure I'll be fine. My first two shots show that I have am not fluent with the weapon yet, charging shots for inking, but I'll get there. I get a nice hit on the Splattershot Pro, and follow it up with a falling shot that finishes them as they run away. That's better already. I even use my Killer Wail early. I dally over grabbing the Rainmaker, though, giving a couple of pinklings time to see me coming.
I stay back for my next outing, trying to keep my range and do some damage. It kinda works, but doesn't really deter the pinklings from pushing up. The Stamper clearly senses weakness, and closes for the splat. I see someone trying to flank as as I wait to return, and try to push them away. I dunno how successful I am, and don't want to peek around the corner to check, and my wariness doesn't do much to stop the pink team taking the lead. At least popping the Rainmaker lets me get some distance from the flanker and see they're still around. They won't leave without encouragement either, so I give them a little push.
I try to tidy up a bit, hoping to stop a quick charge from the pinklings, as my squidmates get a bit more proactive, dashing the Rainmaker back across the Metalworks, on to the checkpoint, and past it. I clearly don't know what's going on. At least I catch up eventually, helping burst the Rainmaker free for a squidmate to dash in to a stronger lead for us. We hold our position for a good amount of time, but can't keep it forever. I back off when an Inkstrike comes in, and run away when the Stamper comes for me.
I get safe and start shooting again, pushed back a little more by the Stamper, and see the flanker come my way. I reposition, take aim, and splat them before they get close. Nice! And somehow we have dunked the Rainmaker. Huh. It seems that the pinklings did well to push us back, but forgot to move the Rainmaker. A squidmate spotted this, grabbed it, and dashed right to the podium. Good job, squidmate! Woomy!
