Splatoon 3: Trying the Tri-stringer in Tower Control [12(4)-5, Tri-stringer]
I think I ought to try giving some of the new weapons a bit of a go. I'll try the Tri-stringer first, and where better to use it than battling for the Tower in Mako Market. I have some experience with the Tri-stringer, mostly in Salmon Run, partly from getting splatted with it, so I hope I have learnt something. I manage to get an early splat, which is nice, and am seeing the inklings here and there and dotting them with ink. Quite why I don't see the obvious signs of the Range Blaster coming my way is beyond me, but being more scared of the Octobrush seems plausible.
I remember my Toxic Mist when I return, which almost works, but I also find that the Splat Charger on the other team might be quite practiced. I return to catch the Range Blaster out of position, but can't stop the Octobrush from running amok. I stay as hidden as I can instead, or at least in cover, and catch the Bloblobber coming for me, which requires poking my nose out enough for the Splat Charger to get a bead on me again.
I take a different angle, almost catch squids by surprise, but my inexperience with the Tri-stringer means I don't take advantage of that. I have to retreat, remembering my Killer Wail finally, but the Range Blaster still gets away. I'm happy to see the Octobrush mired in ink, even if I only get an assist, and we manage to get the Tower moving forwards again. I get all my tools working, helping keep the orange team at bay, only for Suction Bombs to push me back.
We battle for the turf under the orange ledge, the orange team winning this time, and we're pushed back. I stick to a corner, where the Octobrush lazily hides to their misfortune, and we're able to ride the Tower once more. A couple of Specials keeps it safe, and hides my approach on the charger, whose splatting I hope will let us get past the tricky corner. It doesn't, when I completely miss seeing a Suction Bomb land next to me. So it goes.
Taking another different approach gets me mixed up with the Range Blaster, a bit of panic causing not quite enough charge to build up in my shots. I still get the drop on them eventually. We still have a long way to go with the Tower, and increasingly less time to get there, but trapping the Octobrush and having the orange team almost wiped out gives us a chance. We get back to the ledge, and manage to keep the Tower free of orange inklings until we're increasing our score, but I am caught between the Bloblobber and Splat Charger, and the Splat Charger wins. Still, not a bad battle for me, I would say.
