This is video #17 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. To get to the Dark World's fifth dungeon, Link needs the Titan's Mitt from the fourth. Getting through it successfully requires the Fire Rod from the third. To reach the fifth dungeon, Link must go to the island where the Pond of Happiness is located in the Light World. A portal to the Dark World is under the heavy stone on this island.

This transports Link to the closed-off courtyard of the palace in the middle of the Dark World's icy lake. Just a few steps will take him inside the most atrocious dungeon in the game, the Ice Palace. As its name might imply, slippery floors abound here. Just inside, the telepathic panel will impart some helpful advice. Link must roast a Freezor with the Fire Rod to open the door. One of the Baris next door drops a Key.

The locked door leads downstairs to B1 (time 0:49). The switch in the southwest opens the eastern door. There is a crossroads with a block in the center, reminiscent of some dungeon crossroads in the original Legend of Zelda. Link first heads south to do battle with some Pengators. This reveals a chest with the Compass (time 1:37).

Back at the crossroads, Link trips the switch and heads through the east door. More Pengators and an Anti-Fairy await. After getting rid of these critters, Link finds the switch under the southern pot and returns west.

He now takes the northern exit from the crossroads (time 2:27). Several red Baris await to shock the careless sword-swinger. To progress, Link must hit the switch once, place a Bomb on it, and head past the blue barrier before the Bomb goes off. Another Bomb is needed to blast open a hole in the center.

Link then drops to level B2 (time 3:04). The nearby telepathic panel offers timely advice on defeating Skeleton Knights. When the knight collapses, it can be defeated with a Bomb. To the south is an irritating room with a conveyor belt, Baris, Babasus, and spikes. The Babasus are dark creatures that dart across the room from one alcove to another. One of the Baris holds a Key.

The other door is along the southern wall to the west (time 4:06). Leaving the switch red will be a big help. In the next room, a switch is under the southwest pot. Farther east is a stairway.

Link heads down to B3 (time 4:37). Defeating the Pengators unlocks the northern door. At the crossroads beyond, he continues north to a room with a rectangular walkway.

As the floor collapses, Link deliberately drops to B4 (time 5:12). The room below is a large icy chamber. The telepathic tile offers excellent advice, as magic is necessary to fuel the Fire Rod. Link takes the northern door along the eastern wall to a room with Baris and a pit. Naturally, he must grapple east and exit south.

Past some large spike traps, he heads upstairs to B3 (time 6:05). This room has blue Baris, a damage floor in the south center, and a skull pot to the east. The pot is a grappling target for the Hookshot. Stepping on the switch reveals a chest, but Link will be back for it soon.

For now, he heads up to B2 (time 6:17). There is much to do in this little room. A Skeleton Knight waits just inside the room. Underneath the big block is a Key, as well as a Rabbit Beam. Another Skeleton Knight is further west. The southwest pot hides a switch that reveals a chest with the Map, and pulling the statue's tongue opens the eastern door.

In the room to the east, Link goes up to B1 (time 7:20). The chest contains the Big Key.

Link backtracks down to B3 (time 7:44). The switch under the pot reveals a chest, which Link can grapple to. It contains a Key that can be used promptly to head west. West again is an ice-floor room with a fire bar in the center.

He heads downstairs to B4 (time 8:18). Defeating the two Freezors reveals a chest with Bombs. This is a clue to bomb a floor panel just above the stairway.

This allows Link to drop down to the big chest on B5 (time 8:45). This chest contains the Blue Mail. Not strictly necessary, but it halves the damage that Link takes from enemies. I think it looks much better than Link with the Blue Ring in the original game.

Link exits east to the room with the Big Key door (time 9:02). Blue barriers inconveniently prevent Link from accessing the blocks in the middle of the room. We will see why this is inconvenient soon. To the north, there are red Baris and a Skeleton Knight.

The locked door leads downstairs to B6 (time 9:53). To the south is a room with a Freezor, some Baris, and a Skeleton Knight. There is a switch under the pot, but woe of woes, it must be weighed down!

Returning upstairs to B5, Link heads through the door east of where the Big Key door had been (time 10:48). The first pot directly to the north contains a Key. The switch under the pot just northeast of the fire bar opens up both doors.

Description continued in the comments.
