With Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, this marathon sadly ends not with a bang but rather a whimper. Hey, chances are you probably cut your losses with the Dark Descent video, right? This game might be one of the most disappointing games I have ever played in my entire life. It's the "Exorcist II: The Heretic" of video games. Whereas Penumbra: Requiem's problem was being all puzzles with an inconsequential story, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a fucking walking sim with nothing but bland text and dialogue. It can be beaten in under two hours just by holding Left Shift and having a college-level reading skill, yet its puzzles would hardly challenge a pre-schooller. All this would be forgiven if this forgettable tale of suidae's contraption was scary, right?
The King of the Hill episode "Pigmalion" is scarier than anything in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
Despite its pretentious nature, this game's only source of scares are extremely loud sounds out of nowhere. In other words, it's no better than a dime-a-dozen PG-13 jumpscare horror flick. Also, for some unexplained reason, this game runs like utter dogshit which is why I had to drop the recording down to 30FPS. At the very least, I can rest easy knowing that Frictional Games wasn't responsible for this entry.
Oh, and the sound mixing is really bad.
