Bravely Default: Session 12 -- Second Verse, Same As The First
As we continue our journey through this second world, of course I'm taking the time to re-fight the optional bosses. I do think some of these are kinda funny, like when you confront Profiteur and he's got his pleasant and courteous facade on because he's never met the party before and they're like, "We're onto you and your vile schemes, buddy!" Or they're interesting in other ways, like Khamer talking about how his plan is going amazingly instead of whining about how it's all falling apart.
But, you know, after awakening two of the crystals, Agnès's garb is looking a little worse for wear. We'll have to go get that fixed, and that means, yes, we have to go see Sage Yulyana. Things take a different turn than our first time around, though! He picks up right away on the fact that they're not from this world. How? I'm pretty sure they tipped him off by asking for the repair, because if he's the only one who makes the vestal garb and he didn't make one for Agnès in this world, how could she have it in the first place? He says it's the third time he's met Agnès, but also, it's her first time meeting him. What does that mean? Well, he'll only tell her and her most trusted companion in the cave.
Of course, that means Tiz, much to Airy's chagrin. Apparently, they make quite the pair. There, Sage Yulyana establishes some key points of information: He and DeRosso were part of the group that founded the modern duchy of Eternia, but they were once enemies. So, how is this the first time he's met Agnès? The third time is now, obviously. The second time was when she was a little girl. The first time was... at the end of the final battle between himself and DeRosso.
This, of course, is his version of the story that DeRosso shared. He says that the angel that fell, wounded, looked exactly like Agnès (and if you check the notes after doing DeRosso's sidequest, there's a passage claiming DeRosso said the same thing). Though they took care of the angel, she didn't last long, but in that time, she foretold of a great calamity. Improperly releasing the power of the crystals would destroy borders and open the way for the Harrowing, but she didn't get a chance to tell them what that was. No one knows, and not even Yulyana has been able to find the answers in 1800 years since. He does warn, however, that this journey we're on seems to be exactly the path to the Harrowing. But we've been doing it the right way, right? There's nothing to worry about, surely.
With his advice in mind, it's time to mop up all the Bloodrose Legion. We see that DeRosa claims his plan has been approved by Edea's father, only to find some notes of his where he says the grand marshal would never allow it. We also see Einheria grow enough of a conscience to know the Bloodrose Legion has done heinous things, but not enough of one to stop fighting on their behalf. We see Artemia... still being Artemia. And lastly, we see Mephilia, who's still as twisted as before but who has picked up on the fact that our gang here is actually from another world. Weird!
Next time, I'm gonna see about fixing the other half of the world.
I've hit a point where grinding out job levels isn't a complete pain, so I've already done that.
