Bravely Default: Session 15 -- Get The FF Out
The title screen says it all.
All the pieces are on the table now. We know that we've been deceived, and we've actually been following the path that leads to the Harrowing. The question is, what are we going to do about it?
For now, we're going to pretend that it's business as usual. We're gonna head back to Eisenberg to wipe out the Black Blades, then up to Eternia to take on Victor and Victoria. This time, Victor tells us that the real cause for Victoria's condition is his father performing forbidden alchemy on her. It stunted her growth, drove her mad, brought her pain... So she killed him. Victor still takes the blame for it and makes it weird (as usual) with his whole "I won't let her die so long as I live!" thing. Buddy, chill out.
But atop Central Command, in the chambers where the Council of Six meet, we don't find Braev waiting for us. Instead, we find Yulyana. He knows the party isn't from this world, and even that Ringabel isn't from the same world as the other three. He wants to test the gang's conviction, and he has a few things he wants them to see. First, a man lost in grief in Edea's room...
Alternis Dim is wailing in anguish. He swore to protect Edea, made a vow of it and everything, but she's dead. He failed, and he can't come to grip with the loss. He recognizes Ringabel as "me from when I had nothing," and assumes he's here to kill him. There's no escaping the fight, but I'm not about to lose, either. In defeat, Alternis abandons what little he has left, and Yulyana appears to explain that Ringabel, who himself has lost everything, now has a place in this world. But before he decides, there are grieving parents in the Central Healing Tower...
Braev and Mahzer Lee are consumed with grief. They have just received word that Edea has perished, so when Edea (and gang) appears before them, Braev assumes it's some kind of trick, and so, once again, we fight, and once again, we win. As a result of our fight, he recognizes that this really is Edea, and he's overcome with joy. He's even proud of her for besting him in combat! Of course, he's always been proud of her, he just never put it into words. Mahzer proposes that they all, including Ringabel, have dinner together as a family, for the first time in a long time. Again, Yulyana appears to fill in the gaps: the Edea of this world died in Caldisla, and our Edea can stay in her place. Again, it's too early to decide. There's a hidden Crystalist village in Florem...
Olivia Oblige, the childhood friend of Agnès and vestal of water, is happy to see Agnès alive and well. Before they can have a reunion, though, we've got an attack by Einheria! And Mephilia! And even Artemia! They've come to finish off Olivia, the last living vestal, and thus bring an end to Crystalism. Guess that's why I couldn't find them! Despite being a new fight, there's not much I can say about it. It's the three of them, together.
Olivia says Agnès protected her from Victoria and died, and since then, she's been feeling lost and overwhelmed. But now that it turns out Agnès is alive, Olivia wants her to never leave her side. Sounds an awful lot like how Agnès felt in the first world, huh? Once again, Yulyana appears and says Agnès could choose to stay here with Olivia, but before she decides, there's a young boy at the Norende ravine...
Til Arrior, Tiz's younger brother, is overlooking the Great Chasm. He, believe it or not, is ecstatic to see that Tiz is alive. Together, they can rebuild Norende and restore it just how it was, even if it takes years! The King of Caldisla will help and everything! Also there's a kobold attack, whatever. And thus, Tiz has a place in this world, and Yulyana tells the group to meet back at his home.
After a discussion, there's only one answer they can truly be comfortable with: they're going to continue the journey. Yulyana decides it's time to judge their growth... by fighting!
Yulyana's no slouch. His ability, Invocation, uses a summon to buff one of his stats to the max. He only buffs his attack power, then he busts out Meteor and Amped Strike for heavy damage.
And as our prize, we get the final job in the game: Conjurer! Aside from Invocation, it has a lot of MP-related support abilities, and it has fairly well-rounded stats with a clear slant towards magic. It also features an A rank in every single weapon type.
No one's left to stop us at the Holy Pillar. The light offers no warmth, only pain. But we must press on. We must enter the pillar, let Airy do her thing, and reach the next world.
What new things await us this time? Only time will tell.
See you then!
