(CCPlays) Cold Waters Dot MOD | 1984 NATO Cruiser Campaign | Part 2: Two Victors Too Many
Previously, in the 1984 NATO Cruiser Campaign...
We drew first blood by sinking 4 Soviet subs in 2 separate engagements but expended nearly all of our ASW torpedos. We went back for reloads and a new assignment...

Welcome to another episode of Captain Chang Plays (CCP) and we are still in Cold Waters. We are doing 1984 NATO campaign, but with a twist... we are using a surface ship... a Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser.
New updates will be posted every two days.

We have rearmed and resupplied, and have received new orders.
MISSION: Back to Denmark Strait and block enemy attack submarines to prevent them from destroying the supply convoys from the US.
11-DEC-84 Denmark Straits
We arrived and patrolled the area when sonar reported contacts to the northeast.
While there is only a freighter on the surface, sonar quickly identified several subsurface contacts approaching. When we have a firm solution, and verified that no friendly subs are due in this area, I ordered the helos to drop one torpedo each on each contact. The reaction was immediate... a Victor I and a Victor III. The Victor III provided to be slippery and it took a while to nail him as he got within 3 km of us with a mad dash. His older cousin, on the other hand, use the distraction to simply sneak in closer from a different direction. While neither scored a hit, both came quite close.
And we have not seen the briefed Soviet wake-homing torpedoes yet. From all reports, there is no countermeasure. Once they lock on to you, they WILL hit you, unless you somehow run them out of fuel. While I like the high morale of the crew so far, I fear our unblemished record so far will lead to them underestimating the enemy.
And the war continues...
