(CCPlays) Cold Waters Dot MOD | Y2K NATO Campaign | Part 27: Stopping Commandos In Subs Again
0Previously, in the Cold Waters (DotMod) Y2000 NATO campaign, we had wiped out big surface ships PLAN just bought from the Russians, including a Kirov, a Kiev, and some auxiliaries.
14-OCT-00 After congratulations for a clean sweep, was issued new priority order.
MISSION: Stop PLAN subs carrying commandos heading for Subic Bay, Phillippines.
We had to rush south from Sea of Japan but we made it to the area just between Subic Bay and Scarborough Shoal. And there, we waited for the PLAN subs. I was expecting approach from the North, but when a sub was spotted to the south, I ordered us to intercept it.
15-OCT-00 Intercept successful, and we lie in wait, and IDed a Kilo and a Ming class subs. The Kilo just vanished on me, but Ming continued on. Seems the Kilo is relying on the Ming to mask him. No matter. I doglegged two torpedoes toward them and kept an eye out for the Kilo. Sure enough, the torpedo for the Ming and its subsequent destruction forced Kilo to reveal itself, and it quickly ate the next torpedo.
Those were the subs carrying the commandos. Mission accomplished!
Also got the Legion of Merit medal for this.
