Honestly, I think Evolved Perfect World's decision to introduce the custom world boss "Channarong" as part of the gearing process was great - at least, for me. And it might not be for the reason that you'd think either. I've never really cared for farming one way or another, and Channarong wasn't going to change that. However, what Channarong does provide, whether intentional or not, is an objective to PK for. A concrete goal that can be used to gauge whether a PK is won or lost. In fact, I believe that a lack of such an objective is what causes so many pure PvP server to fizzle out and die over time. So of course, I am going to take advantage of this boss as much as possible... by PKing people farming it!
"Wait, we're the bad guys?" - Zen, Chaos Leader. Well, not really. Can't honestly say we're the good guys either though. Because it isn't always black and white. Sometimes, it's orange and blue. Maybe to the farmers trying to peacefully kill a boss, we are the bad guys for crashing their party. After all, they let us farm in peace, so we ought to do the same back, right? Maybe not. Not everyone plays the game for the same reasons. For them, successfully killing the boss is what matters. So anyone trying to prevent others from killing the boss will be seen as "bad". Such is their morale guidelines. Yet, to people like us, what matters more is the PvP. Compared to them, we are unfettered, unrestrained by their inhibitions. We believe that the PvP aspect is what makes attempting to kill the boss fun. Then, naturally, we do not see ourselves as the "bad guys".
Ultimately, games are a form of art, open to interpretations. So that is why in this video, a good majority of the PvP will either occur at, or is instigated by, the new world boss Channarong. In my opinion, it is all part of what makes the game fun.
With Perfect World Void still dead, and no qualified candidates to replace it, more and more of us from AnorLondo have joined Evolved Perfect World. It has gotten to the point where we even have a cleric now! Funny thing is, after 8 years of playing PW, I have no idea how to play with a cleric on my team. I had to learn to play Assassin mostly without one, and I generally have no idea what to do with one at this point. But even so, like most servers, clerics seem to disproportionately tilt the battle in your favor more so than any other class. With a cleric on our side, I have been able to comfortably switch my wizard's build from pdef focused to crit focused, by replacing one of my rings with the r8 rings for +4% crit. This significantly increased my DPS, allowing me to instantly "notick" (hierobug) people most of the time. If you thought this class didn't take skill in my last video, then this video definitely isn't going to change your mind. But that's ok. 1.3.6 is really a hit or miss with most people, especially since most of these "features" in 1.3 are really actually glorified bugs. And even among the friends who came with me to this server, some have expressed a desire in wanting to return to 1.5 as soon as a good server shows up. So most likely, my days here are numbered. I guess I might as well try out as many different things as I can in the mean time.
