"Abstractions should not depend on details. Details should depend on abstractions." - Dependency inversion principle

Even though Assassin and Wizards are both categorized as "Damage Dealers", their roles in mass pk have always been quite different. One sneaks around backstabbing stragglers, the other frontlines and sustains DPS. However, the question of which one is supposed to do which can be unclear sometimes. Traditionally, Assassins have always excelled at the backstabbing role - working mostly alone, killing their targets instantly, and getting away. However, before the days of Assassins, Wizards have sometimes fulfilled this role just the same. Using a glass cannon pure magic build, Wizards were able to instantly kill one or multiple people and quickly get out of the way. And as we saw in some of my previous videos, Wizards on Evolved Perfect World can be just like that.

However, this role is actually the inverse of how I usually play Assassin on 1.5. For me, Assassin have actually become a frontline class, a combination of DD and Support, working closely with members of my team. Whereas a backstab Wizard role is a lot more reminiscent of my APS Assassin days back on PWI. However, with a role like that, I'm not really a part of my squad anymore. My squad are more or less simply distracting the enemy while I hopefully insta kill someone and run away. I could be in a completely different squad and it would've been the same. As a result, my contribution to the squad falls, and team synergy takes a drastic hit as well.

So I wanted to invert the role of wizards away from a glass cannon, back into more of a frontliner. As it turns out, a new build was popping up that allowed Wizards to go heavy armor while still being capable of achieving NoCast. It seemed like a good idea - I would still maintain enough DPS to kill people, but I would be able to stay at the frontline without having to run away after every kill. I would no longer depend on my team having to support and protect me. I can now support and protect my team like before. And so I sold my arcane armor, purchased some heavy armor, went pking, and brought you this video today.

Unfortunately, it turns out the build was a little *too* good, and the developers of Evolved Perfect World nerfed the damage of Wizards overall very soon after. As a result of this nerf, the damage of heavy armor Wizards became low to the point that I feel it isn't worth playing anymore, so I will have to switch back to arcane armor. While I agree that Wizards probably needed a nerf on Evolved, this sadly meant that I did not have a lot of time to gather good footage for this video. However, I did not want to simply delete footage that I already recorded either. And so this video will only feature a few mass pvp that we've had against Firewall, Vexed, Aeons, and PONYS. I apologize that the quality of this video may not live up to your expectations.

As for the up and coming future, I may very well continue playing on Evolved for no good reason other than due to a lack of 1.5 servers. Though, it would've been nice if I had known that Evolved was planning to nerf Wizards earlier, as it has been rather difficult for me to reacquire arcane gears again. At the same time, Evolved seems to be dying as well, as the activity has been falling rapidly in recent weeks. So it is quite difficult to predict what the future may hold at the moment. Really, I just need a good server that I can play on.

But whatever happens, I hope you enjoy this video!
