It does not do well to dwell in the past. The future of Perfect World private servers lies in moving forward towards newer expansions.

This time, I got to try out the "new" 1.5.5 Elysium (Homestead) expansion! I put "new" in quotes since technically, this expansion came out 2 years ago for PWI. But as for the private server community, this is the first time I got to play on this expansion. This has been made possible all thanks to the developer Penelope.

This is not an actual server however, and it won't be one either. While the PvP is working exactly as it is supposed to, there are bugs in many other areas making it unsuitable for a live release. And so, this video will exclusively feature a 1v1 session between me and my close friend Walpurga, also known as Wally. (He has his own channel as well! https://www.youtube.com/user/WallyPWS)

For this 1v1 session, we decided to simply use the best retail gears available as of this expansion. This includes things such as G17.5 weapons, Wings of Ascension + Crown of Madness, full Nuema Portal twice reawakened max leveled, full Serenity / Devil Stones, full Sovereign / Genie Stones, and even the Boundless R9r4 gear set! A link to the full list of our gears can be found both at the top and bottom of this video's description. Additionally, we were both using full passives, including Lv. 5 Corrosive Cold which increases HP Charm tick to 15s instead of 10s. The only thing that we lacked were Titles and Star Chart. But this was due to laziness more than anything else, and shouldn't really affect too much.

Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), it was not balanced. Despite being equally geared, Wally did not really stand any chance at all, and this isn't entirely due to skill differences either. Between range penalty, 2 tick defense charms, and misses, there was no hope of even scratching an Assassin who now have also been granted a defensive weapon proc and an instant stealth that even detection pot can't counter. To make things more interesting, I decided to eventually stop using both defense weapon, O'Malleys, and defense charm altogether. And even then, the fight was largely in my favor.

What I do like however, is the skill changes they did for Archers. Leap Right and Leap Left now comes with an Anti-stun attached to it, and this is honestly a pretty major buff. One of the greatest problems that Archers have against Assassins is their gap closers. The ability to instantly teleport to an opponent and follow it up with a CC skill completely nullifies any attempt at getting away. But with the Anti-stun buff, Archers now have time to move away after leaping, thus making the Assassin's gap closer far less threatening. This, I feel, is well thought out and a step in the right direction for balancing the Archer vs Assassin match up.

As far as giving God of Frenzy to Archers go, I honestly don't feel like it made a huge difference. Sure, I died twice to it in this video, but considering the total number of fights that we had, it was quite underwhelming and not as powerful as some people made it out to be. Even without a defense weapon, I am able mitigate damage by preemptively 3 sparking during potentially vulnerable moments, preventing a good majority of the bypasses. This removed a large amount of the RNG commonly associated with GoF, giving me back control of the fight. This turned the GoF proc into little more than just a manageable damage boost proc.

The defense proc on the weapon is interesting to say the least. Assassins definitely didn't need one, but since we are getting it anyway, I felt Benevolent Ward was the best option. The whole taking damage over 20s deal may sound scary at first, but in a 1v1 scenario, it is quite ignorable. So instead, what we're left with is an 8s damage immunity with high proc rate. Since more often than not, the Archer is running away from me as opposed to hitting me, this proc essentially only ever activates when the Archer is actually trying to DPS me down. Make it even harder for an Archer to kill sins, why don't you? As for the Archer's side, I honestly think Purify Spell works very well. However, for whatever reason, Wally does not wish to use it. You will have to ask him to explain his reasoning.

I'd tell you more but, theres not enough space in the descriptions. So check out the video. I hope you enjoy it!
